Crazy Hair and Free Dress Day

What a fantastic Friday we had at Bucasia! Students and staff went all out for Crazy Hair Day and Free Dress Day, bringing plenty of colour, creativity, and school spirit to our classrooms. From wild hairstyles to vibrant outfits, it was wonderful to see everyone embracing the fun for such an important cause.

Together, we proudly raised funds to support Motor Neurone Disease (MND), with all proceeds going to FightMND (https://fightmnd.org.au/). This was truly a whole-school effort, and we are incredibly proud of the difference our community is making.

A huge thank you to our families for your support—your creative and imaginative hairstyles were a highlight of the day and brought smiles to faces across the school.

• Fundraising & Events

What You'll Be Doing
• Managing invoices, receipts and weekly banking
• Supporting tuckshop operations, menus, recipes, costing and compliance
• Assisting with uniform shop stock, orders and reporting
• Creating flyers, social media content and event communications
• Supporting fundraising activities and community events
• Maintaining records, procedures and digital systems
• Researching equipment purchases and obtaining supplier quotes

✔ Strong administration and organisational skills

Bucasia AFL Gala Day 🏉

A tough start to the day losing our first four games, but after a reset and some great teamwork, the team turned it around winning our next three! 👏

A special mention to our girls who also played in two all-girls matches against Moranbah —an awesome experience!

So proud of the sportsmanship, effort, and resilience shown by everyone.

Thank you to Mr Walmsley for organising and to our wonderful parent and grandparent helpers for your support on the day—we couldn’t do it without you!

We’ll be back in 2027, so any current Year 4 and 5 students keen to join, let Mr Walmsley know!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR INSTRUMENTAL TEAM
Another amazing performance at Regional Fanfare Final on Wednesday taking out the 2026 Best Primary Band Award. I wonder who will be selected for the finals in August in Brisbane? Thanks Mr Matthews for your hard work and determination and Mrs Elliott for all your help.

Mackay Northern Beaches State High School visited our Year 6 students today as part of their transition to high school, bringing along their much-loved house mascots for a fun-filled afternoon. Students had the opportunity to participate in a range of engaging activities, and it was wonderful to see the excitement, enthusiasm, and laughter throughout the session.

The experience provided a fantastic opportunity for our Year 6 students to begin building connections with their future school in a positive and supportive environment. Judging by the smiles on their faces, they had an absolute ball and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!
