We are the Brunswick Valley Rescue Squad, part of the Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA). We are the primary rescue service in Byron Shire and surrounds. As the name suggests we're a group of volunteers that is called upon when a person or animal is in strife. We are generally activated by the police when you phone Triple Zero (000) and rescue people from car crashes, cliffs, floods and more. Our
mission is to provide the very best rescue service available. We are on call 7 days a week 24 hours a day, rain, hail or shine. We're often on scene for hours at a time and baulk at nothing. Our service is provided to you for free and our squad is mostly self funded with little money coming from the government. We work hard at fund raising as well as obtaining sponsorships and donations from generous people in the shire. If you are interested in donating please get in contact, it is tax deductible. Alternatively we are always happy to hear from people looking to join the squad. There are few prerequisites to become a member, you will be provided comprehensive training and never expected to do anything you are not comfortable with or capable of. There are over 50 VRA squads throughout New South Wales ready to lend a “helping hand, anywhere, anytime.”
