It is with heavy hearts we can confirm a Fire and Rescue Service firefighter has passed away overnight following a factory fire at Slacks Creek early yesterday morning.

Izabella Nash joined the Fire and Rescue Service in 2014 and served as a First Class Firefighter.

A second firefighter, Lia Drew, who is a Senior Firefighter, remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The thoughts of all QFES members are with Izzy’s and Lia’s families, friends and fellow crew members.

Investigations into this incident are underway.

Further information will be provided when appropriate.

Congratulations Lesley 🏅

Four long-serving members of QFES have been honoured with the prestigious Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) and Emergency Services Medal (ESM) as part of this year’s Australia Day Honours List 👏 🎖

Congratulations to Rob Boniwell, Lesley Brand and Ian Fulton for receiving the AFSM and to Alex Johnson for receiving the ESM.

They are being recognised for consistently going above and beyond in the line of duty on a very proud day for them, their families and colleagues.

Property owners requiring a Fire Permit for this period are asked to contact the Fire Warden before 14th August.

OPTUS STADIUM (PERTH) – cockroach infestation as at 5.30pm Sun 26 June

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews are providing assistance to Western Australian Fire and Rescue Service units at a cockroach infestation outside Optus Stadium in Perth. Specialist crews from Queensland were requested due to their expertise in containing similar incidents. Crews are working to suppress the threat using a special mixture of firefighting foam and Baygon. An exclusion zone has been established and is expected to remain in place for the next several hours. The public is asked to ignore incessant NSW whining and continue cheering on the Maroons as they seal another State of Origin series win over the Blues
