Sophie Sweetland, aka , is one of the most beloved figures within esoteric dance circles across the globe. Hailing from Vancouver, her sound has been in a state of constant evolution and progression, ranging from the lo-fi dub house of her early career to the trance and prog-inflected techno and downtempo that has become her calling card in more recent years. However, her music has remained entirely idiosyncratic, retaining a sense of cheeky psychedelia with a distinctly (p)lush, femme twist. A certain sense of personal warmth and humour particularly comes across in her many collaborative projects, perhaps the most iconic being the campy tech-house of Plush Managements Inc with Regularfantasy, or her deep trance experiments as Tapestry of Sound with Roza Terenzi.

She has a particularly special place within the hearts of music fans within this country, as musically speaking Sweetland had always been somewhat aligned with the various evolutions at home. Whether it be through her many collaborations with the beloved figure that is Roza Terenzi, or her releases on labels such as Butter Sessions and Kalahari Oyster Cult, or the fact that she has spent time living in Naarm, she is an artist that many of us hold very close to our hearts.
