Irish Australian Support Association of Queensland IASAQ is a non-for-profit organisation that assists the Irish Australian community in Queensland.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide appropriate and valued support to the Irish and Irish Australian community in Queensland. We ensure that the Irish Diaspora:

- feel supported in times of isolation, vulnerability and crisis.

- people of all ages feel connected to their culture and heritage.

Moving abroad means new experiences, new friendships, new opportunities. But it’s completely ok to still miss Ireland.

And that’s where we come in…IASAQ is here to give you a sense of home, no matter how far you are 💚

Come to an event, volunteer, or just lend a hand! However you’d like to get involved, we’d love to have you. The Irish have always shown up for each other, and that hasn’t changed just because we’re all the way over here in Queensland.

The The Ireland Funds Australia Global 5K supports IASAQ and other Irish community organisations across Australia and Ireland. So this Saturday 12 September, you can lace up for their annual Global 5K.

It doesn’t matter if you run, walk, or do your 5km on the other side of the world! You’re part of the reason we get to keep doing what we do here at IASAQ.

Bring the whole crew! Family, friends, co-workers, even your four-legged friends, for a fun morning that helps keep our community programs going strong.

A whole lot of good energy, a Saturday morning reset, phones away & 45 minutes of, as Michael would say “getting high on your own supply” who wouldn’t want that? 🤗

Turns out a room full of Irish people can be quiet for 45 minutes… who knew? 😉

This is what representation looks like 🇮🇪

Last week our Manager Fionnuala represented IASAQ at the 2026 Celebrating Multicultural Communities Reception, hosted by Premier David Crisafulli David Crisafulli MP on behalf of the Queensland Government, at Queensland Parliament House.

An evening built entirely around recognising the contribution multicultural communities make right across Queensland & celebrating the people and communities that make Queensland the vibrant, multicultural place it is.

All aboard ⚓️

There’s nothing quite like a slow morning on the water, and this one comes with morning tea.

Join us aboard the MV Neptune, a gorgeous little timber cruiser, for 90 minutes gliding along the Brisbane River while our guide points out the history hiding along the banks.

📅 Tuesday 13th October
⏰ 9:45am for a 10am start, finishing up around 12pm
🚌 IASAQ can drop you to Southbank from our car park - we’ll meet here 9:15am
📍 Or meet us at the Southbank Cultural Centre Public Pontoon, for boarding by 10:15am
🍰 Complimentary morning tea (scones, jam, cream & strawberries) plus tea or coffee
🗣️ A relaxed 90 minutes of history and good chat along the river
