🇹🇱 You're warmly invited: Commissioning Mass of Archdiocesan Chaplains

At Sister Eufemia's invitation, we're delighted to share this special celebration for our Timorese community in Brisbane. 🙏

During this Mass, Archbishop Shane Mackinlay will commission all the Archdiocese of Brisbane chaplains. Among them is our own Fr Anacleto Guterres Da Costa, O.Carm, Chaplain for the Timorese Catholic Community in Brisbane (TCCB).

🇹🇱 TTN20 is shaping up to be a night to remember! 🎉

We're thrilled to share that about 100 people are already coming to celebrate 20 years of the Terrace Timor Network on Saturday 7 November at Archer Brewing, Wilston.

What makes this night really special is how involved the Timorese community is. Four Timorese community groups, from Logan, Ipswich, Northside and Brisbane, will each give a performance. The last one ends with the traditional Tebe Tebe dance, and everyone's invited to join in a Timorese tradition! You'll also get a first look at the vision for the new TTN Community Hub in Railaco Craic.

🎉 TTN turns 20, and we need your help! 🇹🇱

On Saturday 7 November we're celebrating 20 years of the Terrace Timor Network at Archer Brewing, Wilston. We're looking for volunteers on the day, to help set up in the afternoon and lend a hand on the night:

🎈 Decorating the venue
📸 Putting together poster boards of TTN photos and our future Railaco community hub
🎁 Assembling gift baskets
🧺 Building a raffle hamper and selling tickets
📖 Promoting the TTN book

What a night! 🇹🇱🇦🇺 Thank you to everyone who joined our Term 3 TTN meeting.

Highlights:
🤝 Edmund Rice Foundation's new locally led program in Timor-Leste, with Country Manager Jacob dos Reis now on board
🏡 Early sketches under way for a new community hub in Railaco
🔧 Plans to restart the Taraco trades training centre, starting with carpentry and electrical skills
🌱 Big potential for Timorese vanilla – from a handful of growers to around 600 farmers

Great to speak with the 2026 Terrace immersion group last night in Dili. Most expressed a desire to learn, help and get out of their comfort zone. These boys and their families are the future of TTN. Our next meeting is a Waterford Place. On Oct 15 at 4:30 - 6:00 pm.

The TTN 20 year anniversary trip rolls on and has been a tremendous success so far. Along with our partners at the Edmund Rice foundation we have reconnected with our projects in:
Railaco Craic - Vanilla Beans of Hope, and the Community Cooperative CCU BEHAFU (a new initiative incorporating the “card ladies”)
Terasu - Community Trades Training Center

We have had numerous exciting conversations building on the recent community engagement surveys conducted for ERF by Timor Unearthed. There is a strong desire in the communities for our continued support as the needs are still profound.

We caught up with old friends who we have worked with for decades including Norberto Beto, Flori Fatima, Ludi Fatima Alves, and many of the wonderful card ladies.

We also met the soon to be appointed country manager for ERF who is a passionate and experienced development leader. This will be a game changer for working with the local communities to ensure project meet community needs and get done.

The communities are also looking forward to the Terrace immersion group visiting next week. Look for a more thorough update in the coming weeks!
