National Council of Women of Queensland (NCWQ)

National Council of Women of Queensland (NCWQ) The NCWQ is a state branch of the National Council of Women of Australia (NCWA) The NCWQ is a group of affiliated organisations and associations in Queensland.

The NCWQ gives a stronger voice to women on issues of common concern, to inform and encourage discussion among women, to formulate policies and to make submissions to government and other bodies. Within the NCWQ there are a number of portfolios covering various sectors, all related in some way to the issues of women. Each portfolio area has a State Advisor to monitor that topic and provide quarterly reports to the NCWQ and National Advisors of the NCWA. The NCWQ affiliated organisations include but are not limited to the following groups: family, social, political, professional, religious, multicultural, health, urban and rural.

Women supporting women is a recurring theme across our affiliated organisations. The Quota Club of Brisbane will shine a light on Broken to Brilliant at their Christmas Fundraiser. Everyone is looking forward to hearing Kate Crowley-Smith speak again. Kate is a dynamic speaker who speaks with passion. Kate will speak about founding the organisation which has gone from strength to strength. Funds raised will go towards supporting the work the Broken to Brilliant team do.

Today is your last opportunity to view the Red Dress while it is exhibited at the Museum of Brisbane. Kirstie will share stories about the dress at 2:30 p.m. MoB is open until 5 p.m. The Red Dress Project coming to Australia was a successful endeavour by the Queensland Historical Women’s Association in partnership with Allthreads Embroidery Brisbane. It was a pleasure to support this project.

Register Now for the 2026 NCWQ Conference ‘Amplify Your Voice’ to take advantage of the Early Bird Discounts which expire Friday 28th August. Tickets are available to delegates and members for $25 and $30 for guests. Registrations close 11th September. NCWQ partnered with QMWS at the Member’s Event to raise money to support the NCWQ Bursary Program and the Purple Bush Medicine Leaves Program. After a delicious Devonshire tea at the Shingle Inn we went up to level 3 to view the magnificent Red Dress Exhibit. If you have not been to see the dress make the time. It is a once in a life time opportunity.
