YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament Est. 1996. Like our page to keep up to date with all the YMCA QYP news!

The YMCA Queensland Youth Parliament is a Queensland Studies Authority accredited education program for young people Queensland -wide. For well over a decade QYP has been providing an apolitical environment where participants can engage with community issues as Youth Representatives of Parliament. As well as providing an important link for Youth to influence real levels of Government, QYP is a fan

tastic opportunity for participants to improve confidence through interacting with other like-minded young people of varying backgrounds and opinions. There are three main facets to the program; Parliament, Community Engagement and Personal Development. All three aspects are facilitated throughout the program by the Executive to accomplish the ultimate aim of building better communities by building the leaders of tomorrow in Body, Mind and Spirit.

Day 4 of Regional Road Trip. YMCA QYP Youth Members, Youth Advisory Council and Executive went to the Townsville Supreme and District Court.

We watched a mention, an arraignment and a trial. We were also lucky enough to have a chat and a Q & A with Justice Johnstone!

This was a wonderful educational experience and insight into the judicial system for our local Townsville Youth Members and Advisory Council.

Day 2 of Regional Road Trip. YMCA QYP Youth Members, Youth Advisory Council and Executive went to the Cairns Supreme and District Court.

We were lucky enough to sit in on the proceedings. We watched a sentencing, pre-trial hearing and a directions hearing. Judge Fantin also had a chat with us, including a Q & A!

What a valuable learning experience this was for our local Cairns Youth Members and Advisory Council.
