Best practice isn't just about having a certificate on the wall; it’s about regular practice, keeping up with the latest medical guidelines, and building muscle memory so our team can act swiftly, calmly, and effectively under pressure.

​This week, our little learners have been stepping into the magical world of stories! Reading together builds early literacy, sparks imagination, and creates wonderful bonding moments.

​Here are 3 quick ways to celebrate reading at home this week:

​Let them choose: Let your child pick their favourite bedtime book (even if it's the 10th time in a row!).

​Get animated: Use fun character voices to bring the story to life.

​Picture talk: Ask them what they see in the illustrations before reading the words.

🧪🔬 What an Amazing Science Week! 🔬🧪

Our recent Science Week was filled with excitement, discovery, and plenty of hands-on learning! The children eagerly participated in a variety of exciting experiments, exploring what happens when different products and materials are mixed together.

Through these experiences, the children not only developed their fine motor skills by pouring, scooping, stirring, and measuring, but also gained a deeper understanding of cause and effect. They observed reactions, made predictions, and discovered that even small changes can lead to surprising results!

The enthusiasm throughout the week was wonderful to see. The children were highly engaged, keen to explore, and asked many thoughtful questions as they investigated the world around them. Their curiosity and excitement demonstrated a genuine love of learning and scientific inquiry.

Science Week provided endless opportunities for children to think critically, problem-solve, and learn through hands-on exploration. We are so proud of how involved the children were and loved watching their confidence grow as they experimented, discovered, and shared their ideas with others.

Our children have been busy developing their fine motor skills and early literacy knowledge through writing letters in the sand!

Using their fingers and tools to form letters helps strengthen the small muscles in their hands and fingers, which are essential for future handwriting development. As they trace, draw and experiment with letter shapes, children are also building their letter recognition, understanding of print, and confidence as emerging writers.

Sensory experiences like sand writing make learning fun, engaging and meaningful, supporting children's early literacy journey while encouraging creativity and exploration.

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

☕🍰 Welcome to our Toddler Café! 🍰☕

Our toddlers have been having so much fun engaging in imaginative role play in our café, which has been set up in the Home Corner. From taking customer orders and serving delicious pretend meals to making cups of coffee and enjoying friendly conversations, the children have fully embraced their café experience!

Role play is a wonderful way for children to develop a range of important skills, including: ⭐ Communication and language development ⭐ Social skills and cooperation ⭐ Turn-taking and sharing ⭐ Problem-solving and critical thinking ⭐ Confidence and self-expression ⭐ Early numeracy through counting and exchanging play money ⭐ Fine motor skills through handling utensils, cups, and food items

Most importantly, our little café owners and customers have been having an incredible amount of fun while learning through play! We love watching their creativity, imagination, and friendships flourish as they explore real-world experiences in a meaningful and engaging way. ❤️

🌿✨ Toddler Herb Playdough Exploration ✨🌿

This week, our Toddler friends had a wonderful time exploring our Italian herb playdough! Using their hands to squeeze, press, roll and mould the dough, the children enjoyed discovering the delightful scents of the herbs mixed throughout.

This sensory experience encouraged creativity, supported fine motor development, and engaged the children's senses as they explored different smells and textures. It also sparked meaningful conversations as the children shared their observations and described what they could feel and smell.

We love providing hands-on learning opportunities that inspire curiosity, imagination, and discovery every day! 💚
