The Story Bridge

The Story Bridge The Story Bridge, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Brisbane's favourite bridge. An iconic steel cantilever bridge across the Brisbane River. Opened 6 July 1940.

Planned for decades, it was part of a grand plan to construct several crossings of the Brisbane River to aleviate congestion of the main crossing (Victoria Bridge) and to bypass traffic around the core of the city. Designed by John Bradfield (who also designed Sydney Harbour Bridge). Built in the late 1930's, commencing 24 May, 1935.

Since its opening in 1940, the heritage-listed bridge has kept Brisbane moving while proudly featuring as an iconic part of our city’s skyline. 🌉
