A lovely morning with the Murwillumbah Parkinson’s Support Group today. 💚
I was invited along to talk about how a doula can support people living with Parkinson’s and other progressive neurological conditions — and their families — at any stage of their journey.
My presentation focused on both the practical and emotional side of living with a progressive condition. That might mean helping someone navigate services and information, planning ahead, providing advocacy when it’s needed, or simply being there to help make things feel a little less overwhelming.
But just as importantly, it’s about living well now — staying connected, continuing to do the things that are meaningful to you, and making moments matter.
It was lovely to present alongside Vicki from Seniors Rights Service , whose work supporting and advocating for older people is so valuable, and Mitch from Agile Exercise Physiology, who got everyone moving and reminded us of the importance of maintaining movement and physical wellbeing especially when living with Parkinson's.
I also loved seeing the ongoing support and expertise available to members of this group, including Mel from Balance Mobility, and the work Leigh and Dovida Tweed & Northern Rivers put into supporting the group each month.
Thank you Leigh and the Murwillumbah Parkinson's NSW Support Group for inviting me along and making me feel so welcome. 🌿
Live well. Stay connected. Make moments matter.
