🌞🌩️Summer (and severe weather season) is not far away. Now's the perfect time to get ready. Here are 5 simple actions you can take today:

1. Set up weather alerts from BOM or your local council
2. Check your insurance to make sure you have the right coverage
3. Update your emergency kit with enough food and water for at least 5 days
4. Keep your gutters, roof and downpipes clear
5. Store important documents in a waterproof wallet or back them up

Through a partnership with Queensland Corrective Services, low-security prisoners are rolling up their sleeves to help Queensland communities get ready and bounce back following disasters.

From sandbagging ahead of a cyclone to cleaning up after a flood, these work camps show up for our SES and rural fire brigades exactly when they need extra hands.

It's community service that builds skill and contributes to resilience. Everyone wins!
