Calling all art and wildlife lovers!
For the last 12 months, artworks by Hobart-based artist and illustrator Natalia Bennett, featuring five endangered species injured on Tasmania's roads have been prominently displayed at Hobart airport. Natalia's art helps raise awareness about the plight of the Spotted-tailed quoll, Masked owl, Swift parrot, Tasmanian devil and Wedge-tailed eagle, especially amongst those visiting Tasmania from interstate and overseas.
Bonorong's 24/7 Wildlife Rescue Service handles approximately 20,000 calls for wildlife in need every year, and that number is steadily rising. Many of these calls relate to endangered species such as those depicted in Natalia's artwork.
Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary CEO Matt Clement said that almost three in four fatal incidents involving Tasmanian wildlife occurred on our roads.
"Natalia's artwork and the collaboration with Hobart International Airport, helps to shine a light on these beautiful creatures, many of which are found nowhere else on planet Earth."
These stunning artworks are now up for auction, with 100% of the proceeds pledged to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, to help fund the vital work of rescuing, treating, rehablitating and returning injured, orphaned and displaced animals back to the wild.
