Good morning everyone and Merry Christmas Eve 🥳🎄

Bridport Fire Brigade has received a request all the way from the North Pole from our good friend Santa Clause 🎅 and guess what,
Santa is coming to town!

He would like us to take him for a quick ride in the Fire truck to deliver some Christmas cheer and a lolly bag or two around the Bridport community.

This is our plan please share and pass on to everyone that you see.

At 4:30 this afternoon will be going from the fire station turning right out to the industrial area Heckrath Rd then back in to Bridport up the main street to Port Hills Rd then turn back around and head back through the Main street to the Fire Station so Santa can get back to work before a very busy night ahead of delivering gift to the world!

Spread the word and get down the street from 4:30 🥳.

Merry Christmas 🎄

Don't forget to apply for fire permits and register your planned burns.

The first stage of our online fire permit system is up and running, making it easier to apply for fire permits and register your burns.

If you wish to conduct a burn (larger than 1 cubic metre in size) on your property, you will need to apply for a free fire permit.

If you're planning a small burn, register it online and keep your neighbours informed.

This streamlined process helps prevent unnecessary callouts for firefighters, making it safer and more efficient to manage fuel reduction burns.

The Fire Permit Period for all of Tasmania will start tomorrow (Tuesday, 19 November 2024) – this means from 2am Fire Permits will be required across the state until the end of the 2024-25 bushfire season 🔥📃

If you have a property and you wish to conduct a burn (larger than 1 cubic metre in size) on your property, you will need to apply for a free Fire Permit, by contacting your local fire brigade or calling Tasmania Fire Service on 1800 000 699 or online at fire.tas.gov.au 📲

During a Fire Permit Period:

1. People intending to light a fire for burning vegetation or for a similar purpose must obtain a permit.
2. People intending to light a fire at a sawmill or factory for burning wood waste or other flammable material must obtain a permit.
3. People intending to light a fire for cooking, warmth or disposal of garden waste do not require a permit provided that:
• The fire is not lit in peat, humus or marram grass.
• The fire is attended by a responsible adult at all times until it is extinguished.
• All flammable material is removed for at least three metres radius from the fire.
• It is less than one cubic metre in size.

While the weather is cooling off today, we're warning Tasmanians to stay vigilant with High Fire Danger ratings in place across the state.

⚡ The recent storm activity has resulted in close to 8,000 ground lightning strikes.

🛩️ We are deploying aircraft today to check for any possible bushfires as a result, and there may be fire in the landscape over the coming days and weeks.

🏡 We’re again calling on all Tasmanians to make sure they have a plan in place for if bushfire threatens their home.

✔️ When a bushfire strikes, there’s lots of things to think about, and having a plan means you don’t have to make impulsive decisions.

⏰ Decide ahead of time how early you will leave, where you will go and how you will get there.

🔦 Make sure you have an emergency kit ready, with a torch, batteries and chargers, and a radio so you can stay up to date if there are power outages or you can’t get online.

🔴 High Fire Danger ratings are currently in place across the Furneaux Islands, Central North, North East, East Coast, Midlands and the South East.

🔴 Further high fire danger is expected on Saturday, across most of the state.

Michelle O'Byrne MP thanks to your wonderful family first, our time with you is their time without you.

It’s been a very very long time coming and we look forward to hearing back from the TFS representatives from last nights town hall meeting.

If funding is allocated for the 24-25 financial year surly the preliminary works for the new station at EZY PARK can commence.

Council are happy to hand over the land so property and procurement can take it over.

We look forward to hearing from TFS/State fire commission for a solid answer.

With love and the upmost respect BVFBSC!!

📣 Attention building operators and business owners.
🚨 Remember to upgrade your Alarm Signalling Equipment (ASE)!

If you have a ASE2118 3G compatible TFS monitored alarm installed in your premises, an upgrade is required because of the decommissioning of the Telstra 3G network in June 2024.

What do I need to do?
▶️ All impacted premises owners are required to contact their Fire Maintenance Contractors immediately to ensure their ASE is upgraded by the TFS deadline of 31 December 2023. This is essential to maintain your building’s fire safety compliance.
▶️ Fire Maintenance Contractors around the state are aware of the changes and can provide a quote and manage the upgrade in its entirety.
▶️ If you don’t have a regular Fire Maintenance Contractor, a list is available on the TFS website (linked below).
▶️ Act now to avoid a last-minute rush. Don’t risk the safety of your premises and its occupants.

Find out more via the following channels:
