🚗💸 The typical Australian household is now spending $459.96 a week on transport.

That’s 15.6% of weekly household income, with car loan payments as the biggest expense, followed by fuel.

📍 Sydney recorded the highest transport costs among capital cities, while Bunbury was the most expensive regional centre.

🚨 There's a Commonwealth Government review that could explain why Australia's road toll keeps rising. Do you think it should be released?

The latest data shows Australia's rolling 12-month road toll has risen for 38 straight months.

⏳ Ten months have passed since the Commonwealth announced its mid-term review of the Strategy to halve road deaths by 2030.

The biggest spend at the pump the AAA tracked last quarter wasn't in a capital city 💸

📍 It was in Bunbury, Western Australia.

Across the eight capital cities and seven regional centres the AAA tracks, regional households paid around $400 a year more for fuel on average than capital city households.

📣 The AAA welcomes the Commonwealth Government's mandatory national safety standard for e-bikes.

Transport Minister Catherine King and Assistant Minister Andrew Leigh MP have agreed that e-bikes sold in Australia must meet the standard at the point of sale. It is due early next year.

The AAA and its member clubs — The NRMA, RACQ, RACV, RAC WA, RACT, RAA, and AANT — look forward to seeing it extended to e-scooters and other e-rideables.

Acting quickly will prevent injuries and save lives.
