Thinking about your future in agriculture?

The Rylington Park Scholarship provides financial assistance to Year 10 students from Boyup Brook who have been accepted to attend an Agricultural College for Years 11 and 12.

Established by the original Rylington Park Management Committee Inc. and now proudly administered by the Shire of Boyup Brook, the scholarship honours the vision of Eric Farleigh, who was passionate about supporting local young people to develop skills that would benefit the Boyup Brook community for generations to come.

While applications do not open until September, students and families are encouraged to start preparing now by reviewing the scholarship information and eligibility requirements.

Today is Thank a First Responder Day, and we would like to take a moment to recognise and thank the incredible people who dedicate their time, skills and commitment to keeping our community safe.

A big thank you to St John Ambulance Boyup Brook, Boyup Brook Bush Fire Brigade's, Boyup Brook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Boyup Brook Police, and the State Emergency Service (SES) for the vital work you do throughout the year.

Our volunteer first responders give up countless hours of their own time to train, attend emergencies, support community events and answer the call whenever help is needed, along with our local Police officers, who show an amazing commitment to protect and support our community. Their dedication, courage and willingness to serve make a real difference in our lives.

Whether responding to fires, medical emergencies, accidents, storms or other incidents, our first responders are there when we need them most. Their service helps make Boyup Brook a safer and stronger community for everyone.

Thank you for everything you do. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and we are truly grateful for your service.

Southwest WA Storm Update & Long Weekend Prep

As we head into the long weekend, the Bureau of Meteorology is tracking some significant storm systems expected to bring heavy rain and damaging winds to our region.
Before the rough weather arrives, it’s a good idea to take a few simple steps to prepare for possible power outages and local road closures:

β›½ Top up your fuel tanks: If the power goes out, fuel pumps at local service stations may not operate. Filling up today could save you a trip later.
πŸ”Œ Check your generator: Give it a test start and make sure you have sufficient fuel on hand if you plan to rely on it during an outage.
πŸ₯« Stock up on essentials: Consider picking up a few extra grocery items in case roads are temporarily affected by flooding, fallen trees or debris
πŸ“ž Keep important numbers handy:
β€’ Shire Tree Down Hotline: 0429 403 487
β€’ SES: 132 500
β€’ Main Roads WA: 138 138
β€’ Western Power: 13 13 51
πŸš— If you're travelling, please take extra care on the roads and drive to the conditions.

And honestly, if you don't need to be anywhere this weekend, it might be the perfect excuse to stay indoors, keep warm, and enjoy a movie marathon or catch up on your favourite shows.

Stay safe everyone and have a wonderful long weekend!
