It’s the 4th of May aka International Firefighters’ Day, and in a state as massive as Western Australia, it takes more than one uniform to keep us safe. From the red dirt of the Pilbara to the tall timbers of the South West, our protection comes from a diverse network of dedicated professionals and volunteers.
Today, we tip our hats to the full spectrum of our frontline. From Careers through to the Volunteers, and those in aviation to mitigation. Today is a day we thank all those in the role, and remember those who have fallen to protect our communties, our homes, our families.

The "Aussie" Connection:
International Firefighters' Day actually has an Australian heart. It was established following the 1998 Linton fires in Victoria to ensure that the sacrifice of those who run toward danger is never forgotten.

Did You Know?
In WA, we have over 26,000 emergency services volunteers. Whether they are farmers, teachers, or tradies by day, they are lifesavers by night.

A great message about battery disposal for those who don't know.

Do you know where they are in town?

SHIRR WASTE TRANSFER - lead acid vehicle batteries
IGA and CRC - have ECOBATT bins which take household batteries, mobile phones, smart watches, power tool batteries.

If you are not sure, check with someone at these locations, and together prevent things like this from happening.

⚠️ Public Notice to Marshmallows:

You are safe tomorrow.

A Total Fire Ban will be in place in the Shire of Boyup Brook.
No campfires, no burn-offs, no open flames of any kind.

The only thing roasting tomorrow should be the temperature.

WAIT......we can toast marshmellows????? Surely not!!!! WHO'S BEEN MESSING WITH THE SCRIPT AGAIN!!!!!

Jokes aside, follow the rules both state and local. The info is here - https://www.dfes.wa.gov.au/hazard-information/bushfire/total-fire-ban

It’s a Total Fire Ban again for the Shire of Boyup Brook tomorrow!!!

That means your 'legendary' solid fuel smoked brisket is going to have to wait. If we see so much as a sparkler, we're calling your parents. Let’s keep the grass green and the houses un-crispy, shall we?
Just keep a look out for any movement bans, that may be put in place by your Shire.

Together we can let the local volunteers keep cool in the A/C...

It is "don't even look at a match funny" levels of hot tomorrow. 16th January 2026 🔥🚫

A Total Fire Ban will be in effect.

That means no outdoor campfires fires, no solid fuel BBQs, and definitely no amateur pyrotechnics. There is a list of no-no's....somewhere 🤔
If you see smoke that isn't coming from a burnt piece of toast in your kitchen or a forgotten pizza in the oven, call 000. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay indoors where the AC lives....or stand in front of the open fridge door for 10.

Just a reminder that there is a TOTAL FIRE BAN in the Shire, all day 4th January 2026.
One of our members have already had a yarn with a local or two. Who were not aware of it, or the difrerence between TFB and Harvest Movement Bans.

Hit up the link below and know the difference.
