Congratulations NSW Young Nationals on your very successful Annual General Meeting and State Council meeting today.

The meeting was held in the Renwick Community Centre, with dinner at Scottish Arms Hotel.

The meeting was extremely well attended with a lot of passion and exuberance from our youth movement.

Congratulations Jayden Whaites on being elected State Chairman for the third consecutive time. In the youth party's 60 years of existence this has only been achieved on three previous occasions. Well done to the others elected to State Executive.

Great to see Wes Fang MLC, Scott Barrett MLC, Nichole Overall nearly MLC and Steph Cooke MP there supporting the Young Nationals.

Southern Highlands Nationals were represented by Valentine and Janet Tyson, Stephen Wentworth and Maryke Archbold-Hession.

What a bloody good result.

Yesterday, we were on hand to watch Counsillor Sara Moylan "cut the ribbon" and open the residential development, Ashbourne, for the owners. About 60 people, consisting of new and potential land owners, and invited guests were on and for the opening. Below, Sara is cutting the ribbon with Ashbourne owner Adrian Liaw.

This afternoon, we attended the swearing in of the new Council for Wingecarribee Shire, for the next four years.

In her 3 minutes, our own member, Sara Moylan gave a speech of future success, plus financial management, procurement and very good governance.

Well said Sara!

Other new councillors also swore, on the bible, an allegiance to the community, and forgoing personal issues, putting good council business first.

I was impressed with most of the new Councillors sincerity, and hope this group can bring Wingecarribee Council back to a place where the rate payers can be proud.

Councillor Fitzpatrick was elected unopposed as Mayor, and his number 2 on his election ticket, Erin Foley, who is a Staffer for Judith Hannan MLA for Wollondilly, was elected his Deputy.

We don't believe this is a good combination for good governance, and only time will tell.

Afterwards, there was a function for all to chat, meet and greet, have a drink and a snack.

Several Nats members were on hand to support Sara and her family.

Dear Valentine,
This report is a game changer.
This US Department of Energy report has debunked Chris Bowen and Anthony Albanese's anti-nuclear claims.
Analysis from the US shows that electricity costs are ~30% cheaper with nuclear and renewables in the energy mix!
Which is why the US Government is planning to TRIPLE their nuclear energy capacity by 2025.
It also heavily undermines the CSIRO's anti-nuclear analysis, getting it wrong by orders of magnitude. This US analysis shows nuclear plants last 80 years, not only 30 years as claimed in their GenCost report.
There's also good news for nuclear jobs: the report shows nuclear jobs are ~50% higher paying than jobs in solar or wind.
These are the facts we've claimed from the start.
For anti-nuclear campaigners to now ignore this report would be wilful ignorance.

Congratulations to Southern Highlands branch member, Sara Moylan, for today she was announced as a successful candidate for Wingecarribee Shire Council recent election.
Sara ran a short, 4 week campaign, packed with lots of letter boxing, door knocking, meet the candidate meetings, and everyday, all day on pre poll and polling day booths.
It has been decades since a National Party member has been on this local council.
Congratulations to Sara and her enthusiastic, hard working team.

WORLD BIG BANKS BACK NUCLEAR

14 biggest banks and funds back pledge to triple nuclear by 2050
To kick off New York Climate Week, on Monday the world's biggest banks and funds announced their support for nuclear energy. In total their assets amount to over $20 trillion AUD.
The banks and funds pledged to support the global goal to triple nuclear energy capacity by 2050 originally signed at COP28.
The move demonstrates that these organisations are no longer confident with the 100% renewable vision and see nuclear as a viable energy source that must be used around the world.
The full list of banks & funds includes:
• Morgan Stanley
• Bank of America
• Goldman Sachs
• Barclays
• BNP Paribas
• Citi

Dear Valentine,

Yesterday, in an interview with Patricia Karvelas on ABC, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese failed to rule out further changes to negative gearing and capital gains taxes.

This could affect the financial future of millions of Australians.

But don’t take our word for it, here’s what Mr Albanese said on ABC Radio:

QUESTION: So, just to get some absolute clarity, Prime Minister. As we go in, you know – some time away – but into an election period, are you saying negative gearing and capital gains tax concessions are absolutely off the table for you?

ALBANESE: Well, they're tax policies.

QUESTION: Yeah, but are those tax policies completely off the table for you?

ALBANESE: Well, Patricia, I don't answer those sort of questions...

(Interview with Patricia Karvelas, ABC Radio National, 19 September 2024)

The National Party will always stand up for hard-working Australians. We remain committed to protecting negative gearing and maintaining the current capital gains tax concessions.

The best way you can help us to stop any changes to these policy areas is to make a donation to the National Party today.

Last days of pre polling. We've run a short, hard working campaign, that many of our branch members participated, which is a little surprising considering the short notice. The campaign committee members all had family participating.
