Argyle Housing 'A better future for our Communities'

Argyle Housing is a community-managed, not-for-profit, housing organisation. Our main objective is to provide and manage secure, sustainable housing for people on low to moderate incomes who would otherwise struggle to find accommodation and for disadvantaged people who need support in order to maintain independent living. As a community housin

g service provider we are responsive to local needs and are committed to building sustainable communities in areas of need. We are committed to assisting our clients and their communities achieve a better future. To underpin this commitment we will build a financially strong and economically viable organisation. As our property portfolio grows so do our opportunities to acquire more housing, leverage economies of scale and become more innovative in creating solutions to provide accommodation to those in need. This in turn further strengthens our operating base and provides greater security for our tenants. As a community housing provider, Argyle Housing actively encourages it’s tenants to be involved in the organisation’s activities. This involvement helps our tenants build social capital, reduces isolation and teaches new skills. It also provides Argyle Housing with a valuable source of knowledge and information about the communities we operate in and how we can better service these communities. Regardless of our future growth or corporate structure, this inclusive legacy will remain.

Last week, we proudly celebrated the launch of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in Bowral at the Aboriginal Community Cultural Centre.

Our Bowral team alongside clients and support services came together to mark this important occasion, where we were honoured to experience a Welcome to Country and cultural dance.

Our CEO, Carolyn Doherty, also spoke about the importance of reconciliation and our commitment to taking meaningful steps towards building stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Following the cultural celebrations, we came together over a shared BBQ lunch, enjoying a beautiful day of connection, culture and reflection.

The Ngumbaaydyil Community Hub is being created as a place where people can come together, access support, enjoy activities and connect with others.

The Hub has experienced an unexpected setback following damage to the building, which means the opening will take a little longer than planned.

We’re continuing to work towards reopening and can’t wait to see the Hub come to life and welcome the Griffith community. 💙

Thank you to everyone for your patience and support as we work towards opening the doors.

Today, our team, alongside Argyle Housing CEO Carolyn Doherty, had the pleasure of attending the launch of Homes for Older Women Southern Highlands, in support of an important new community initiative working to address housing insecurity across our region.

Led by Older Women's Network NSW Southern Highlands and OWN NSW, the initiative aims to connect older women experiencing housing crisis with compassionate homeowners who have suitable vacant accommodation in the Southern Highlands.

We’re proud to support the work being done to create more safe, secure and affordable housing options within our community.

The need for initiatives like this reflects a much broader housing challenge facing the Southern Highlands and regional communities. With rising housing costs, limited availability and increasing pressure on affordable housing, many people are finding it harder to secure a safe and stable place to call home.

Every step towards greater housing security helps build a stronger community for everyone.

Community Connections & Wellbeing Day + Creative Space's 9th Birthday

Today, we celebrated Community Connections & Wellbeing Day in Bowral, alongside the 9th Birthday of Creative Space Community Outreach! 🎉

It was wonderful to bring together community members and local services for a day of connection, celebration and wellbeing, in support of R U OK? Day and the incredible work Creative Space does in our community.

The day featured activities, support and information from Highlands Youth Cafe, Erratic Ally, Carer Gateway, SSI, Highlands Community Centre, Creative Space, Hearing Australia, Joyful Sounds for Healing and Refined Moves.

At our Argyle Housing stall, we focused on community connection and growing together. Attendees were invited to plant parsley and mini pansies, while sharing what community means to them.

Community means connection, support, belonging and looking out for one another, and it was so lovely to see that reflected throughout the day.

A big thank you to everyone who came along, connected with others and helped make the day such a special celebration!
