Burnima Homestead from the rear, circa 1959.

This wonderful photograph shows the area where our Burnima Cottage Accommodation now stands.

In the early days of the estate, a servants’ hall occupied this location and can be seen in even earlier photographs of Burnima. Sadly, the original building was destroyed by fire and lost forever.

The cottage that now sits on the grounds is another beautiful period building that was carefully relocated here, allowing this special corner of the estate to continue its story while preserving a piece of the past.

We love looking back at these historic images and seeing how Burnima has evolved over the decades, while still honouring the rich history that makes this place so unique. 🏡✨

I was so pleased to meet a lovely lady at the morning tea fundraiser last weekend. She had travelled a considerable distance in the hope that I would be attending the event — and fortunately, I was.

She brought with her a beautiful and precious booklet that had belonged to her grandfather, who was the head gardener at Burnima in 1910. Within its pages were journal entries detailing his plantings and work on the estate gardens over a century ago.

I photographed every page and will be printing copies to preserve this significant record of Burnima’s garden history.

(I've attached a few pages for you to enjoy)

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with people who are so passionate about preserving and sharing the stories of Burnima for future generations.

Thank you for entrusting me with such a special piece of history. 🌿📖

This space certainly looks a lot different now, with the addition of a car park and private cottage garden path designed to welcome guests as they arrive.

We wanted to share this glimpse into the past to show just how close the cottage is to the grand homestead itself, giving visitors the feeling of stepping back in time and living amongst the rich history and charm of this remarkable estate.
