Relief Cleaner and Casual Schools Officer (Groundsman) - Does this sound like an opportunity for you?

We are in the process of expanding our relief cleaner list to replace cleaners on leave. Shifts are between the hours of 4.30am-8am and 2.30pm-6pm (times may vary). Training will be provided.

We are also encouraging CVs for a casual Schools Officer (groundsman).
Current blue card (for working with children) required. If you don't have a blue card, we can help you apply.

Children will receive their wristbands at school on Friday and the Neon Winter Nights Snack Packs must also be prepurchased via QKR. Sausage Sizzle and Coffee Van also available on the night!

Buzz and Bites Tuckshop: Do you have an hour to spare on Thursday or Friday? We would love to see you pop into our Tuckshop and support the team making lunches! Join our volunteer crew and help keep our children healthy and happy! Private Message via Facebook to let us know if you can help!

Reader’s Cup |

On Thursday a team of students participated in the Readers Cup competition held at Manly State School, led by Ms Sally Prior.

Participating in Readers Cup requires a significant commitment, including reading multiple novels, engaging in thoughtful discussions about the texts, and dedicating lunch times to preparing for the competition.

We are incredibly proud of the students' enthusiasm, perseverance and dedication throughout the process.

A special thank you to Ms Prior for leading and supporting the team, and to our parents and families for their support, including arranging for students to attend the event.

Our students represented Birkdale South exceptionally well and should be very proud of their efforts and achievements.

Congratulations to everyone involved!

Uniform Reminder 👕👟🧢

A friendly reminder to families that students are expected to wear the correct school uniform each day.

Please check that your child is wearing:
✅ School uniform clothing
✅ Appropriate school hat
✅ Black school shoes or plain black joggers with white socks

With cooler mornings arriving, students may also wear the approved winter uniform options.

Uniforms can be ordered via Qkr! and size try-ons are available at the Uniform Store on Thursdays from 8.00am–9.30am.

{Neon Winter Night’s 🪩 Disco }

Only a week to go until our annual school disco. This year it is hosted by our Student Council and the theme is Neon Winter Nights! Time to get those costumes ready.

A few important things to know:

1. Tickets must be purchased for all children on QKR. Children will receive their wristband at school on Friday 19th June. This will be their entry tickets.

2 Neon Winter Nights Snack Packs must be purchased and they are selling out fast so be sure to order one with your entry ticket if you are wanting some snacks and fun glow items for the evening.

3. Children must be accompanied by an adult to enter the disco.

4. Once children inside, there will be a special parent zone set up for parents to gathers outside the hall and enjoy coffee, hot chocolates and the smells and tastes of a winter sausage sizzle. Children must not exit the zoned parent area on the evening and must remain within the zone or the hall. Cash or eftpos can be used for purchasing of these items.

5. Did we mention tickets and snack packs must be purchased on QKR! Jump online to do this now! Snack Pack numbers are limited. So to avoid disappointment order now.

See below for an overview of the activities happening this week at Birkdale South. We wish our Reader's Cup Team all the best as they head off to their Reader's Cup challenge on Wednesday.

Two weeks to go until the Neon Winter Nights Disco, make sure you book your tickets via QKR. Ticketed students will have their tickets issued at school on Friday 19th June to make entry seamless on the night.

Buzz and Bites Tuckshop would love an extra set of hands on Friday this week. If you can given an hour or two to help fill lunches this would be greatly appreciated. It's easy, private message us via Facebook to confirm you can pop in!

{Chaplaincy Week}

This week is Chaplaincy Week, and celebrations are already underway at Birkdale South State School.

Our students kicked off the week with a Chaplaincy Fundraising Lunch, enjoying a delicious sausage sizzle and drink. It was the perfect hot lunch to warm everyone up on a cool winter’s day, and the smiles said it all!

A big thank you to our wonderful Chappy Stacey for the care, support, and encouragement you provide to our school community. We appreciate all that you do and look forward to celebrating Chaplaincy Week with you.

{You Belong Week Is Coming}

Information has now been sent home to families via email for the 3rd Annual You Belong Week!

Things for parents to mark in your calendar include;

😀Kick off You Belong Week with our Neon Winter Nights Disco on Friday 19th June, 5.30pm. Tickets and Neon Snack Packs available for order now on QKR.

😀Tuesday 23rd June is the Bee-Leaf in Learning Celebration Afternoon from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Come and see, feel and hear all about your child's learning this semester

😀PJ and Pancake Free Dress Day is back. Children are invited to wear their comfiest PJ's to school on Friday the 26th June (Last day of term) as we host our PJ and Pancake free dress up day.
