Well I think we broke the age record with our Rooster.

Vale

Lenny Latte we think it was 10 years possibly even more, you liked the spa and a ride on the bike and were a most interesting chook. Never an aggressor always caring towards your girls and a playmate to Misty.
Will miss you weirdo.

This is a tiny Eastern Barred Bandicoot joey named “Gidget” ❤

Unfortunately, Gidget's mother and siblings were all involved in a lawn mower accident and Gidget was the soul surviver. 🥺

She was very lucky to escape the ordeal with only a minor scratch behind her ear. She was then able to be sent in to care after a full examination by our vet team 🩺

Gidget's story is a great reason to keep your backyard maintained. Keeping your yard short and tidy will not only look great, but will discourage wildlife from making a home where they may be injured by gardening tools. 🌱

Did you know that bandicoots can rear up to 16 joeys annually? Their breeding pattern allows them to keep their population stable as they live short lives (only about 2-3 years). After only a 12 day pregnancy the joeys are born, and at 86 days they are independent! How is that for a speedy turnaround?! 😅

Last night's storms in metropolitan Sydney and inland NSW caused trees to fall, potentially separating young and vulnerable chicks or joeys from their parents.

In addition to this, exhausted seabirds may also be discovered along our beaches and coastline.

If you find any sick, injured or orphaned animals, please get in touch with our rescue line at 1300 094 737, or report a rescue here ▶️ https://bit.ly/ReportARescue

Thank you to the RSPCA for pulling the sale of kangaroo meat products

This is huge news for kangaroos and brings us one step closer to shutting down the cruel profit-driven commercial killing industry.

For years the kangaroo industry has been using the RSPCA to legitimise the blood bath that is the commercial industry. The fact that the RSPCA has effectively withdrawn its support for the commercial industry is a really big win.

The industry is on notice. Every company and retailer that sells kangaroo body parts are on notice. If it's too cruel for the RSPCA, surely Petbarn, Coles and Woolworths must acknowledge the inherent cruelty in the industry and stop selling our iconic native animal too.

Thank you to the work of the Victorian Kangaroo Alliance for bringing the coalition of kangaroo advocates together to achieve this great victory!

The Azure Kingfisher is one of the smallest and most striking Australian birds. They pair monogamously before defending their breeding territory. They are never far from the water where they catch their prey!

They'll also often kill their prey by repeatedly striking it against the perch before swallowing it head first... these birds are as hardcore as they are gorgeous.
