๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšœ Planning a burn on your property? ๐Ÿšœ๐Ÿ”ฅ

With cooler conditions providing opportunities for landowners to reduce fuel loads around their properties, now is the time to start planning your burning activities.

Before lighting up, remember to:
โœ… Notify the NSW RFS at least 24 hours before your burn via rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify
โœ… Let your neighbours know about your plans
โœ… Check weather conditions and ensure you have adequate resources available to conduct the burn safely

๐Ÿ“ข Remember: Outside of the Bush Fire Danger Period, a Fire Permit is not required in the Rural Fire District. However, you must still notify the NSW RFS and your neighbours at least 24 hours prior to burning.

While we understand that suitable burning conditions can be short-lived, notifying the NSW RFS and your neighbours helps prevent unnecessary emergency responses and ensures the community is aware of planned burning activities.

Working together now helps reduce bush fire risk and better prepare our communities ahead of the next fire season.

Thank you to all of our members who could attend our shed clean up, truck familiarisation and AGM on Sunday. All of your efforts are greatly appreciated and another thank you to those in charge of the BBQ and lunch.

We were also lucky enough to take delivery of our new Cat 9 appliance with brigade Captain, and our smallest member, accepting the keys to the new vehicle.

Remember to stay vigilant, notify, and be safe ๐Ÿ”ฅ

As we move into the colder months, fire agencies often see an increase in house fires as residents use their fireplaces and heaters to stay warm. With temperatures dropping and possible snow forecast across parts of the state in the coming days, itโ€™s important you know how to stay safe.

Remember, you wonโ€™t smell smoke while youโ€™re asleep, so make sure your bleeping smoke alarms are working. A working smoke alarm can save your life and give you and your family valuable time to escape a burning home.
