From 1 January 2027, all Queensland homes must have interconnected, photoelectric smoke
alarms on every storey, in bedrooms, and rooms/hallways connecting bedrooms.
✔ Check your smoke alarms for the Australian Standard code AS 3786-2014.
✔ Replace smoke alarms if they
• Are over 10 years old.
• Have an ionisation sensor.
• Aren’t interconnected with other smoke alarms in your home.
