📚 Meet Children's Author Meredith Downes at your local library!

Calling all young storytellers aged 8–12! Join Meredith for a fun and interactive writing workshop where you'll create brave warrior characters, build your own adventure story, and learn how to write an epic fight scene.

Inspired by her novel Liam the Chid & the Kangaroo Warriors, this workshop is perfect for kids who love reading, writing and using their imagination.

Want to illustrate your stories but not sure where to start? Join Brisbane Children's author and illustrator Meredith Downes, as she takes you through her illustration process. From making story boards to finishing the final image, Meredith will draw upon examples from her new novel for kids, "Liam the Chid & the Kangaroo Warriors", to show you how it's done!

📚 Berrigan Library Update 📚

Berrigan Library will be closed on Thursday 11 June while we receive and install new furniture as part of our upcoming renovations.

We’ll be back open the following day and look forward to welcoming you in. Please note that the library may be a little busier than usual, and some areas may still be a work in progress of unpacking the new furniture.

Our library refresh is still underway, and due to ongoing painting works, Berrigan Library will remain closed Thursday and Friday.

RRL Reads: Maya's Dance by Helen Signy

I found reading Maya’s Dance to be an emotional and terrifying ride.
Based on the real-life account of a Holocaust survivor, the story gripped me as it shifted between 1942 Poland and 1990’s Australia, following Maya’s search for the man who helped her escape.
It was heartbreaking to read the vivid portrayals of the horrors in a N**i labour camp, yet so inspiring to see the incredible power of hope and the human spirit through Maya’s courage to keep dancing.
To me, this story is a beautiful reminder of the strength we find in art and love, and it serves as a powerful message to us all to never forget.
