Today our members are at the Fountain in town tin rattling to raise funds for our brigade.

The money we raise today will go towards new equipment, maintenance for our current equipment, vehicles and items we require for our station.

If you have time today please come down and see our members even if it’s to say hello.

We will be here until approximately 5pm today.

Any and all support we receive from members of our community is very much appreciated.

Did you know Golden Square provides Fire Equipment Maintenance?

We’re 1 of over 270 Brigades who complete FEM and we’re looking to expand our operations.

Golden Square has professionally trained volunteer firefighters to install and service portable fire equipment to relevant Australian standards and building regulations for the public, business, and industry.

We can provide:

- Maintenance of the full range of fire extinguishers, fire hose, fire hose reels and fire blankets.

- Installation of approved portable fire equipment

- An extensive range of portable fire equipment products at competitive rates for purchase

- Professional and quality service as required under the Essential Services provisions.

- By selecting a CFA brigade to maintain your fire equipment, any revenue generated assists the local brigade in supporting your community

Golden Square Fire Brigade will be holding a recruitment information session as per below -

When: Thursday the 26th of February
Time: 7:30pm
Location: 69-71 Specimen Hill Road Golden Square.

Since moving into our new location and the recent fires we’ve seen throughout the state we have received a number of expressions of interest.

We’re looking for anyone interested in operational firefighting and support roles.

To help us manage these expressions of interest, applicants are invited to attend this session.

📧 Recent applicants who have registered their interest will have received an email from our brigade, please check your junk email folder.

Ron Symons will this morning do one last hoora to Golden Square, visiting places that played an important part in his life.

We will follow the attached route visiting -

- Barnard st car sales
- Golden Squares New station
- Golden Squares old fire station
- Past Barnard st car sales

We will depart Napier Park funerals just after 9am.

Firefighters will perform a guard of Honour on the front apron of Golden Squares Fire Station.

Funeral details for Ron Symons.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at Red Energy Arena, 91 Inglis st West Bendigo on Thursday the 26th of February at 12:30pm.

Following the service the cortege will leave for the Marong cemetery.

CFA members are requested to wear workwear or dress uniform, Rons family has requested no hats.

CFA members will perform a guard of honour at the cemetery.

It’s with sadness and heavy hearts that the Golden Square Fire Brigade announces the passing of life member of the Golden Square Fire Brigade Ron Symons, who passed away peacefully surrounded by family on the 13/2/2026.

Ron Joined the CFA on 14/1/1965 and served with Golden Square for 60+ years until his passing.

Ron held the roles of Reserve and active members, Foreman, Chairman and Brigade member.

Our thoughts and condolences are with his wife Margaret, Son Shannon, Brother Wayne and Sister Sharon.

Ron’s sense of humour and personality will be missed around the brigade.

Rest easy Ronny, we will miss you.

Funeral details will follow when known.
