What better time to talk about the amazing people in our catchment who help protect our environment every day.

What starts as a simple connection to place can grow into something much bigger.

One of the latest stories in The North Central Chat, Penny Roberts shares how a rabbit problem on her weekender property led to a lifelong commitment to conservation.

She is now helping restore 36.8 hectares of native vegetation through the Cobaw Biolink - the video is a great watch.

Draft mapping for the Wedderburn Flood Management Plan is no open for public comment, but if you want to find out more information from the consultants, this could be for you.

A community drop-in session will be held in the Council Chambers, Peters St, Wedderburn, between 2pm and 6pm on Wednesday 17 June.

Drop in any time between those hours to have a chat with the consultants and ask any questions.

You can also have your say on the draft mapping by visiting https://connect.loddon.vic.gov.au/wedderburn-flood-management-plan or making a hard copy submission and dropping it into the Council Office in Wedderburn.

If you are unable to attend during this time and have questions or wish to speak to the consultants, please get in touch via the link above and other arrangements can be made.

It’s all been happening in, around, and next to Forest Creek in Castlemaine.

The latest improvement work as part of the Forest Creek Revitalisation Project is complete.

✔️1500 tonnes of sediment removed
✔️ 700m of creek channel looking a lot better
✔️ Pools and low flow channels built

Reed and w**d management are the next steps, then we’ll start planting native vegetation.

The Forest Creek Implementation Group wishes to thank the Castlemaine community for the kind words, patience, and interest in the works over the past three weeks.
