Many of you may have heard reports of dead birds found last week at Lake Tom Thumb.

We’re working closely with Agriculture Victoria and Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) as they determine the cause of these bird deaths.

The birds have tested negative for H5N1 bird flu so far. However, DEECA is undertaking further testing.

Signage is being installed at Lake Tom Thumb today, and we encourage visitors to keep an eye out for signage when in the area.

While the cause is still being investigated, please continue to Avoid. Record. Report. to help protect our wildlife against the spread of bird flu.

If you see sick or dead birds or wildlife:

🚫 AVOID contact with sick or dead wildlife
📍 RECORD the location and what you see
📞 REPORT it online or call 1800 675 888
