Our new soccer goals have arrived on the top oval expertly put together this morning by James and Marius. We have one more set to build. These were a joint purchase between the school and our school association BPSA for $10,000. Huge thanks to James and Marius and our BPSA. The goals were an item identified by the 2025 student leadership group as need based on student feedback.

Huge thanks to the legendary Bill Harvey who delivered 100ltr of biochar to our garden yesterday and had a wander around the garden space and chat. Bill is a councillor with Hobart City Council and involved in Landcare.

Today 3-4 Lenck had their session in the space with Jemma, Larn, Pam and Sam and utilised Bill’s donation as well as cooking up some Passata ready for some upcoming pasta creation.

2027 Kinder @ Bellerive Primary
We are already doing lots of school tours, ready for Kinder 2027! We usually take between 55 and 65 students each year in our Early Years Hub and spots are filling fast. We have already filled more than half of those spots for next year.

Duncan does tours on any day or time that suits all through the year, however, our Kinder days are Monday through to Wednesday if you would like to see our team and kids in action. Email Duncan at [email protected] to come and have a look around our wonderful school.

At BPS, our Kinder curriculum is thoughtfully constructed, drawing inspiration from leading educational philosophies, the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and DECYP Guide to the Early Years Teaching Practices (EYTP).

• The Reggio Emilia Philosophy: We are inspired by this innovative, research-driven approach, which views the child as capable, curious, and full of potential.

• The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF): This national framework guides our practice, ensuring we foster a deep foundation for future learning.

• Inquiry and Play-Based Approaches: Learning is driven by the children's natural curiosity, with rich, hands-on play acting as the primary vehicle for exploration and discovery.

• Nature Education: We integrate the natural world into our daily rhythm, recognising nature as a profound and essential teacher.

Our six educators, Mia, Vicki, Allison, Pip, Imogen and Jet can't wait to welcome you in 2027! Dont forget Vicki and Al offer an amazing LIL program for 0-4 year olds every Thursday which is a great way to connect with the space, other families and children and our educators.

Unfortunately Shalom’s coffee van has broken down this morning on her way to school. Not in today but hopefully back next week. Apologies for the lack of caffeine today.

Congrats to our amazing school community!

Timetable change for LiL tomorrow!
Due to the rain today and the cold morning forecast we will not be doing nature play at Bellerive Beach in the morning. We will instead hold our normal play and learn session in the kinder classroom from 9:00 until 10:30.

Then join us in the afternoon for Read Rock and Rhyme in the nice dry school library at the slightly amended start time of 2:10.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Our school captains, Zoe, Cade, Savannah and Leo have taken time over the last two weeks to chat with Duncan about their roles and how they would like them to look. They have now taken over our assemblies and breakfast club and are also leading our student based business enterprises of the canteen and hot lunch program kicking off in term 2. Check out their piece in our next newsletter on Monday next week.

NAPLAN Assessments
Dear Families, as you may have seen in the media lately, there is currently an AEU work ban for members to not administer NAPLAN National testing. Currently this means for us the testing is on pause until a resolution can be found between the AEU and DECYP.

Over the last four years, we have enjoyed sharing our student learning and school data with our community and showing how this data then leads into our school improvement journey. NAPLAN is one component of that evidence alongside Dibels, PAT, Reading Fluency, Student Wellbeing data, and student/staff/family voice data.

We will continue sharing our data gains with our families and school community, and always base our educational decision-making on the best interests of the learner, regardless of the outcome of this current Industrial dispute.
