STAY INFORMED - Beaudesert - fire as at 1:34pm Thursday, 3 September 2026

Warning level: ADVICE

Warning area: Josephville, Cryna and Beaudesert

A fire is burning near the intersection of the Mount Lindesay Highway and River Road, Josephville. It is moving towards the Mount Lindsay Highway. This fire could burn for days.

Stay informed because the situation could change.

What you should do:

- Check for warning updates often and listen to your local radio station.
- Decide what you will do if the bushfire gets closer.
- If the smoke is thick where you are, stay inside and close windows and doors.
- If you need medication to help you breathe keep it close. Smoke can make it hard to breathe.
- Do not fly drones around the fire as they affect firefighting.
- If you are in danger, call Triple Zero (000) now.

Impacts:

- Some roads may be closed or impacted by smoke. It could be hard to see. You may need to drive a different way. Avoid driving on Mount Lindsay Highway.

- Firefighters are working to control the fire.
- Aircraft are helping ground crews.

AFAC has released the Seasonal Bushfire Outlook for spring 2026 with fire authorities predicting a heightened risk of fire across northern and southeastern NSW, south-east Queensland, northeastern Tasmania, parts of WA, SA and Victoria, and large parts of the NT.

AFAC CEO Rob Webb said: “This outlook highlights a heightened risk of fire across several parts of the country, driven by a combination of dry conditions in the east and increased fuel loads through parts of central and northern Australia."

The Seasonal Bushfire Outlook is an expert analysis of bushfire fuels, past rainfall, temperature, and climate outlooks undertaken by the Bureau of Meteorology and fire agencies across Australia.

AFAC News has released its bushfire outlook for spring and the months ahead paint a mixed picture for Queensland across our higher risk bushfire period.
While unseasonal rain experienced across many parts of the state has reduced bushfire risk in some areas, there are still sections of South East Queensland and the southern interior where soil moisture remains low.
This, paired with above average temperatures forecast areas south of the Tropic of Capricorn, may lead to increased fuel availability and fire danger.
No matter where you live in Queensland it’s important not to be complacent.
Remain aware of conditions in your area and ensure you have a Bushfire Survival Plan ahead of time.
