Congratulations to Fremantle College students Brody, Hamish, Juliette, Tristan, Liam and Tyrell, who recently completed the Leeuwin Youth Adventure Voyage aboard the STS Leeuwin II!

The voyage gave students the opportunity to experience life at sea, step outside their comfort zones and develop valuable skills in teamwork, leadership, resilience and independence.

A special congratulations to Brody, who was awarded Bosun’s Mate in recognition of his efforts throughout the voyage!

We would also like to thank the Polly Farmer Foundation for funding Liam and Tyrell's participation, providing them with the opportunity to take part in this incredible experience.

We're incredibly proud of all six students for embracing the challenges and making the most of this unique adventure.

🔹 Marine and Maritime Studies in Action 🔹

Throughout Term 3, our Year 11 Marine and Maritime Studies students rolled up their sleeves and got hands on with outboard motor servicing and maintenance!

Students explored how two-stroke and four-stroke engines operate, while learning essential maintenance skills including checking fuel, electrical and cooling systems, engine oil and propellers.

A great opportunity to put classroom theory into practice, build technical skills and gain confidence in maintaining small boats safely and effectively.

🎓 A Bright Future Ahead! 🎓

A huge congratulations to Year 12 students Palmer and Fae, who have both been awarded the Murdoch University Brighter Futures Scholarship – Ngala Kwop Biddi, valued at $12,000 each, to support their studies in 2027!

These scholarships recognise students who have demonstrated leadership and made a positive difference in their school or wider community, particularly in the areas of sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion, or First Nations leadership.

Both Palmer and Fae were recognised for their contributions to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, a wonderful reflection of their commitment to making a difference.

Pictured is Palmer receiving their scholarship certificate from Murdoch University representative Kerina Puttman, alongside our Principal, Stan Koios.

Congratulations to both students on this fantastic achievement. We can't wait to see what the future holds for you!

🧩 Putting the Pieces Together! 🧩

A huge congratulations to Libby, Juliette, Kaiya and Janelle, who represented Fremantle College at the WA State Jigsaw Competition held at Shenton College at the end of Term 3.

The girls finished an impressive 4th in the state, completing a 500-piece puzzle in just 42 minutes!

After finishing their own puzzle, they also spent time helping primary school students from other schools complete theirs. A wonderful display of teamwork and sportsmanship!

Keen to join the Puzzle Club? Everyone is welcome, and it's completely free!

Last term, students across Fremantle College were invited to cast their votes for their next Student Voice representatives!

With support from the Western Australian Electoral Commission, students experienced the voting process firsthand, heading to the polls to have their say on who would represent their year group and bring student ideas, feedback and perspectives to the table.

A big congratulations to everyone who put themselves forward for nomination and thank you to all students who took the time to vote.

A special thank you to the Western Australian Electoral Commission for helping bring this valuable learning experience to life.

🏎️ EV Challenge Race Day! 🏎️

After months of designing, building, testing and refining, our Freo Flyers finally put their electric vehicle to the test at the EV Challenge!

Race day gave students the chance to put their STEM and engineering skills into action, working together to problem solve, make adjustments and keep their vehicle on track throughout the competition.

A huge thank you to Fremantle Chamber of Commerce and Fremantle Ports for sponsoring our team and helping make opportunities like this possible for our students.

Well done to our Freo Flyers on a great day of racing. We’re already looking forward to the next meet later this year!
