It was a busy day/night for our volunteer firefighters yesterday & overnight.

Around 9.15am Thursday morning, along with supporting brigades Beaconsfield Fire Brigade - CFA, Berwick Fire Brigade CFA & FRV Pumper 93 we were called to a structure fire in McBride Rd Upper Beaconsfield that a caused considerable amount of damage to the owners property. Thankfully all occupants were safe & well.

Officer Fire Brigade rehabilitation support and Ambulance Victoria πŸš‘ also attended for firefighter welfare and health monitoring.

Then at 1.20am early on Friday morning, we were paged to a suspicious car fire on Beaconsfield-Emerald Road near the intersection of Quamby Rd. Crews in breathing apparatus extinguished the fire. Road crews repaired the heat damaged road on Friday morning.

Some planned burns can produce heavy smoke.
Smoke can travel long distances. It may also settle in valleys and other low-lying areas, especially overnight.

Think about how smoke from this burn may affect you and what precautions to take to reduce your exposure.

Avoid physical activity during smoky conditions.
Remain inside, if possible. Close windows and doors to prevent smoke from entering buildings and vehicles.

If you are experiencing any symptoms that may be due to smoke exposure, the Department of Health advises that you should seek medical advice or call NURSE-ON-CALL on 1300 60 60 24.

πŸ”₯ Burning Off in Cardinia Shire πŸ”₯

The Fire Danger Period has officially ended for the 2025/26 Season. Regulations relating to burning off now come under the jurisdiction of Cardinia Shire Council.

Under the council laws, there are set days in the week where it is permissible for residents to burn off. These days can differ depending on the zoning of your residential address. To check your zone visit: www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/burningoff

We urge residents to take care when burning off as there is still plenty of dry undergrowth. Just because you can burn off, it doesn’t always mean that you should. Always check weather conditions first. It doesn't take much for a spark or ember to spread to a larger fire that can become unmanageable.

Never burn off on windy πŸ’¨ days ❌
Always keep burn piles manageable βœ…
Always have adequate water on standby βœ…
Always extinguish your fire when finished βœ…

Stay safe
