Upper Beaconsfield Community Early Learning Centre Welcome to Upper Beaconsfield Community ELC! We provide care for children from the age of six weeks, until they begin school.

Our wonderful, experienced Early Childhood Educators are committed to providing high quality care, taking pride in caring for your children in a warm, responsible and professional manner. The UBC Early Learning Centre is set in a peaceful, natural environment, surrounded by parkland and embraces the Upper Beaconsfield community atmosphere and has the capacity to care for up to 26 children. all environment allows our Educators to guide you and your child/ren through the settling in process and will endeavour to ensure transitions are happy and secure. Parents and their child/ren are encouraged to visit the UBC Early Learning Centre for a free orientation session prior to the child’s first day to allow for settling into the new setting and environment.

🌦️ Weather Explorers in the Wombats Room! 🌎✨
The children in the Wombats Room have been extending their learning from the solar system and Planet Earth to explore the fascinating world of weather!
Through conversations, observations, and hands-on experiences, the children have been asking thoughtful questions about the world around them. One question that sparked great curiosity was, "How is lightning made?" To help answer this, the children participated in a STEM experiment using balloons to explore static electricity. Through this engaging activity, they discovered how static electricity is created and how it relates to lightning in our environment.
The children have also been expressing their understanding of weather through creative experiences, creating beautiful winter-themed rainbow storm cloud artworks that are proudly displayed throughout our room.
As part of our daily learning, the children have been exploring the seasons, days of the week, months of the year, and discussing how we can keep ourselves warm and safe during the winter months. These experiences help children develop an understanding of time, weather patterns, and seasonal changes within their environment.
Our weather investigations provide many valuable learning opportunities, including:

Kookaburra Room Learning Experience:
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Over the past two weeks, the Kookaburra children have been exploring the much-loved story The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Through a range of hands-on experiences, children have developed skills across literacy, numeracy, creativity, and sensory learning while bringing the story to life.
Colour Sorting Activity
Children sorted colours using objects and images from the story.
Caterpillar Hunt in the Sandpit
Children searched for hidden caterpillars in the sandpit.
Hungry Caterpillar Art Experience
Children used painted balloons to create caterpillar prints.
Story Time
Children enjoyed reading and discussing The Very Hungry Caterpillar throughout the fortnight.
Matching and Symbol Recognition Game
Children matched symbols and images from the story.
The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring The Very Hungry Caterpillar through these engaging experiences, developing a wide range of skills while fostering a love of learning and literature.

🌟 Welcoming Our Student Placement 🌟

We are delighted to welcome a student to our service as she completes a five-day work placement as part of her high school studies and Certificate III pathway.

At our service, we are committed to working closely with our local schools and community to support young people in exploring career opportunities and gaining valuable workplace experience. Placements such as these provide students with practical insight into the rewarding field of Early Childhood Education and Care while helping them develop confidence, skills, and knowledge for their future careers.

We are proud to play a role in supporting the next generation of educators and look forward to sharing this learning journey with students throughout placement.

Today, for National Firefighter Day 🚒🔥, we had the pleasure of welcoming volunteer firefighters Joe and Charlotte to our Early Learning Centre 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒.

The children were given the opportunity to ask questions 💬 and learn more about their important roles within the community and how they help keep people safe 🏡🚨.

We sincerely thank Joe and Charlotte and the team @ upper beaconsfield Upper Beaconsfield Fire Brigade - CFAfor their hard work, time, and dedication to supporting our community ❤️👏.

The children were also able to sit in the fire truck 🚒 with an educator and have a turn using the hose 💦. This was a fantastic learning experience and a wonderful opportunity for the children to engage in hands-on, meaningful learning about fire safety and emergency services 🧯✨.
