We’re seeing an amazing transformation that we wouldn't have thought possible a year ago, on a part of the Hobart Rivulet.
A steep stretch of cotoneaster, blackberry and hemlock, transformed into a terraced healthy revegetation site.
Just upstream, a lovely, secretive fern glade with a native tree canopy.
Mostly thanks to one persistent custodian / neighbour with green thumbs. Thank you!
Also thanks to the many Bushcare volunteers who don't mind jumping in front of the camera! Thank you too!

This cross-council BioBlitz is a fun way to learn about nature in your area whilst participating in citizen science for biodiversity month.

You don't have to be an expert, in fact if you snap a photo of an organism that you are curious about, it's likely that an expert will identify it for you!

All you need is the free iNaturalist app or login online to join the project.

The BioBlitz 2026 Southern Tassie Showdown runs from 15-30 September (see details below).
