Bathurst 1000 Business Activation Opportunities

Race Week is fast approaching, and Council invites local businesses to participate in several high impact promotional opportunities to boost visibility and drive foot traffic:

• Window Display Competition: Dress your shopfront for a chance to win GA passes, promo shoutouts, and the major prize - 2 Corporate Box tickets plus merch and advertising packages. Participating businesses will receive 4 x 4 Day GA Passes courtesy of Repco!

• Bathurst Bargain Book: Submit a special offer to be featured for free in the coupon book distributed to visitors and campers throughout Race Week.

Funding Secured to Make Street Events Easier

Council has secured $450,000 from the NSW Government’s Permit/ Plug/ Play Program to deliver the Bathurst Event Ready Street Project.

This project will make it easier for community groups, businesses and event organisers to deliver street-based events in and around Kings Parade by simplifying some of the planning and approval processes involved in closing Russell and Church Streets. It will also progress Council's plans for permanent power infrastructure in the same precinct, reducing the need for temporary generators and helping to lower the cost of putting on events in the C*D.

This project is part of Council’s ongoing work in supporting local businesses, encouraging people to visit and spend time in the C*D, and making better use of the public spaces throughout the Bathurst Region.

The Bathurst Event Ready Street project is proudly funded by the NSW Government through Transport for NSW’s Permit Plug Play Program.

🌿🐨🦋 Threatened Species Learning Program🐸🐦🦎

Did you know that the Bathurst Region is home to some of Australia's most unique threatened species? To help students connect with and care for their local environment, Council has developed the 'Threatened Species Learning Program,' a series of five engaging learning modules featuring local species and the conservation challenges they face.

Students will discover the:
🦋 Purple Copper Butterfly
🐸 Booroolong Frog
🦎 Bathurst Grassland Earless Dragon
🐦 Regent Honeyeater
🐨 Koala

Each module explores species anatomy, habitat, life cycle, ecology, threats and conservation, supported by hands-on activities, worksheets and citizen science opportunities that encourage curiosity, critical thinking and environmental stewardship.

📚 Designed for schools and educators, the modules can be used individually or as part of the complete program, with curriculum links provided to support classroom learning.
🌱 As we mark Threatened Species Day today on 7 September, keep an eye on our page throughout the week as we showcase each module and share the stories of these incredible local species. Together, we can help inspire the next generation to protect the wildlife and habitats that make our region so special.
