A man will face court today after an alleged home invasion in Lithgow over the weekend.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY!

On Tuesday 26 May a BMX bike was stolen from the front yard of a Lithgow home. As you can imagine the 10 year old owner was devastated. He has worked hard and saved all his money to buy that bike.

Lithgow police were on the case. Enquiries were made that led to an address in Lithgow. The bike was found but unfortunately it had been dismantled and damaged.

Police couldn't bare to return the bike to the young owner in that condition so they took it to a local bike shop to enquire about making some repairs. The store owner has generously offered to repair the bike free of charge. The bike was returned to the boy short time later. He was over the moon and commented it was better than before.

A local man has been charged with the stealing. He will face Lithgow Court in the coming weeks.

A man who allegedly escaped from a Bathurst correctional facility has been arrested following a manhunt in the state’s west today.

About 12pm (Friday 29 May 2026), police were called to a correctional facility in Bathurst, following reports of an escapee.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District were notified and immediately began conducting inquiries to locate the 32-year-old man.

Following extensive investigations, the escapee was arrested outside a home on Stewart Street, Bathurst, about 2.20pm today.

He was taken to Bathurst Police Station.

Inquiries into the incident continue.

Additional charges laid following raid of alleged clandestine lab and bomb-manufacturing site near Bathurst

Two men are facing 16 additional charges following the alleged discovery of a clandestine lab and bomb-manufacturing site in the state’s Central Tablelands region last week.

Appeal for information after emergency services vehicle stolen and destroyed – Rydal

Police are seeking information after an emergency services vehicle was stolen and subsequently destroyed in the state’s Central Tablelands earlier this week.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District were informed a burnt-out fire truck had been located on Sugarmans Road, Rydal, near the Great Western Highway, west of Lithgow, about 10am Wednesday 27 May 2026.

Police attended and found a NSW Rural Fire Service truck with its cabin completely destroyed by fire, and equipment in the tray undamaged.

A chainsaw, portable water pump, the vehicle’s batteries, several drip torches and a full fuel container were reported missing.

Police established a crime scene; the truck was seized for forensic examination.

Police were told a rural fire station at Rydal had been broken into sometime between 12am and 10.15am the same day.

As police continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incidents, they are urging anyone with information – or mobile phone/CCTV footage – that relates, to contact Lithgow Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
