Well done to our Barmera volunteers on this course!

Today Barmera SES members, set up Vertical Rescue rope systems and along with a rescue paramedic abseiled down a cliff on the Murray River in Waikerie to access an injured person.
SES, SAAS and CFS Crews worked to stabilise the casualty before being winched out by the SAAS special ops team on the medstar helicopter. Big thanks to Berri State Emergency Service who provided marine support on the river, local SAAS crews and to the Waikerie CFS Great example emergency services working together.

We have received reports that SA businesses have received phone calls asking them to purchase advertisements in a magazine that will support local SES volunteers.

The SA State Emergency Service does not cold call businesses or individuals to solicit donations and the SA State Emergency Service and its volunteers do not receive any support from any journals or magazines.

If you have received a call from someone selling advertising saying the advertisement will support your local SES, or a call from someone pretending to collect donations for the SES, report the call to Scam Watch www.scamwatch.gov.au/report-a-scam

Its been a busy couple of weeks for the Barmera SES road crash crew.
Our crew working with SAAS paramedic extricated 3 casualties from a 2 car accident in Glossop.
Then using our hydraulic rescue tools, sometimes known as "the jaws of life" freed a casualty in Barmera after a collision with a truck.

Members of the Barmera SES, working with Riverland SAAS members worked together to access and rescue a person stuck on the River Murray cliffs today in Waikerie.
SES crews created and operated multiple vertical rope systems to allow SAAS technicians to access the person. Crews then facilitated a rescue into the awaiting Blanchetown SES rescue boat below!
Thanks also to SAPOL and the Waikerie CFS for their assistance. Was a great example of SA rescue agencies working together! Great work effort by all.

Our SES volunteers provide Road Crash Rescue to the Riverland and are ready to help when accidents happen.

29 May is Fatality Free Friday, an initiative by the Australian Road Safety Foundation encouraging road users to start conversations and share awareness about road safety, to help reduce road trauma on our roads.
