ππ₯ BUSH FIRE DANGER PERIOD β KNOW THE RULES BEFORE YOU BURN! π₯π
The Bush Fire Danger Period is now in effect across the NSW RFS Mid Murray Zone, from 1 October to 31 March.
Planning to undertake an agricultural burn? There are TWO important steps you MUST complete before lighting up!
π STEP 1 β APPLY FOR A FIRE PERMIT
π₯ During the Bush Fire Danger Period, a Fire Permit is required for agricultural burning, including stubble burning and pasture regeneration.
β
Apply for your Fire Permit through your local NSW RFS Fire Control Centre.
β
Wait until your permit has been approved and issued BEFORE lighting any fire.
π’ STEP 2 β NOTIFY BEFORE YOU BURN
β οΈ Having a Fire Permit does NOT mean you have notified the RFS!
Once your permit has been granted, you MUST:
β
Notify the NSW RFS at least 24 hours before lighting via:
π https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify
β
Notify your neighbours at least 24 hours before lighting.
β
Notify your local Brigade Captain at least 24 hours before lighting.
π₯ IMPORTANT REMINDERS
βοΈ Fire Permits issued for agricultural burning are NOT for pile burns.
βοΈ Read and comply with ALL conditions listed on your permit.
βοΈ Check weather conditions and Fire Danger Ratings before lighting.
βοΈ Fire Permits are automatically suspended on Total Fire Ban days.
