Since the brigade was established in December 1939, Volunteers from Bargo Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade have responded to countless calls for help from generation to generation. The Bargo Brigade members are committed to giving professional help, from emergency call outs ranging from very variable extreme circumstances, to fire safety and prevention. All Fire Fighters in the brigade are volunteers

from and around the township of Bargo. Membership is made up of Operational and Support Members filled by Men and Women from different walks of life. Retirees, Engineers, Students, Tradesmen, Stay at home Parents, Guards are just a small sample of the volunteers in the brigade.

The Bush Fire Danger Period commences next week for the Wingecarribee Shire Council and Wollondilly Shire Council areas. From Monday 14 September, Fire Permits are required to light or maintain fire in the open.

To apply for a Fire Permit visit www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify and be sure to give us as much notice as possible as a Fire Permit Officer will need to visit your property prior to issuing a permit.

Now is the time to review your Bush Fire Survival Plan and know what you will do if a fire threatens.

🟡Elevated Fire Danger - Saturday 5 September🟡

Due to unseasonably warm and windy conditions tomorrow, the Fire Danger Rating will be raised to High for the Wingecarribee Shire Council and Wollondilly Shire Council areas.

🔥Landholders are urged to:
• Postpone all planned pile burning until conditions ease.
• Regularly check any pile burns conducted in recent weeks.
• Ensure burnt piles are completely extinguished, including checking for heat or smouldering material beneath the surface.
• Continue monitoring old burn sites while strong winds persist.

Remember, fines can apply if you fail to notify the RFS before lighting a fire or if your fire escapes your property.

If you see an unattended or escaped fire, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

🚫 Don’t be the fire risk to your community.

⚠️ Increased Wind Forecast ⚠️

Winds are forecast to increase across the Wingecarribee Shire Council and Wollondilly Shire Council areas today and into tomorrow, with peak gusts expected to exceed 50km/hr tomorrow, combined with warmer temperatures.

These conditions increase the risk of recent pile burns reigniting and escaping, particularly burns conducted over the past few weeks.

: Hume Motorway, Wilton

Multiple NSW Rural Fire Service crews are on scene at a grass fire on the Hume Motorway, north of Picton Road at Wilton. The fire started at approximately 1pm as a result of a car fire that has spread into the grass/bush area of road verge. There are no threats to properties.

Southbound traffic on the Hume Motorway is currently affected with 1 of 2 lanes closed for firefighting operations.
