This week our St Joseph’s community paused to check in, connect and remind one another that a simple “R U OK?” can make a big difference.
Our students learned the four steps — Ask, Listen, Encourage Action, Check In — and practised how to support a friend with kindness and confidence.
Let’s keep these conversations going, not just today but every day. 💛

SPECIAL REPORT: R U OK? Day

R U OK? Day reminds us of the importance of checking in with those around us and having meaningful conversations about mental health. A simple question, “Are you OK?”, can make a big difference.

This SchoolTV Special Report provides practical guidance for parents and carers on talking to children about mental health, building strong connections, and supporting wellbeing.

👨‍👧‍👦 Celebrating Father’s Day

Father’s Day is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the important role fathers and father figures play in the lives of children. Research shows that engaged and supportive dads have a positive impact on their child’s wellbeing, confidence and development.

This SchoolTV Special Report explores the valuable role fathers play in supporting their children’s mental health and wellbeing.

Week 8 has been a wonderful reminder that learning is not just about what we know, but how we grow, collaborate and persevere as we work towards our goals.

Prep/1/2 -

🐾📚 The Prep/1/2 classroom has been buzzing with excitement as students completed their information reports! Each child chose an animal at risk of extinction — from Arctic foxes and dolphins to elephants, red foxes, orcas and sharks — and turned their research into detailed, well‑crafted paragraphs. Students wrote about the animal’s description, habitat, behaviour, diet, threats, babies and life cycle, location, interesting facts and a thoughtful conclusion.

Year 3/4 -

This week in Drama, along with the 5/6s, Year 3/4 learnt about the different perspectives used in storytelling in drama. They specifically looked at first-person perspective, third-person perspective, multiple perspectives, and breaking the fourth wall, and how these can be used in a range of dramatic contexts.

Year 5/6 -

Our Year 5/6 students have been busy becoming scientists as they investigate the conditions that affect mould growth. Through this hands-on experiment, students are making predictions, observing changes over time and recording their findings.

As another busy week comes to a close, we celebrate the progress our students have made and look forward to the many opportunities for learning and success still ahead.
