Why were you there? ✊

We took to the streets of Sydney for the March Against Racism and the Far Right and asked two attendees, Shilpa and Adam, why they felt it was important to be there.

Their answers speak to something bigger than one march. They’re about standing up for our communities, refusing to accept racism and discrimination, and making it clear that the far right does not speak for us.

From rallies of the past to the streets of Sydney today, people continue to come together to say: racism has no place in our communities.

We’ll keep showing up. We’ll keep speaking out. And we’ll keep building a community where everyone belongs. 💚

✊🏻✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 No to racism. No to the far right. No to Pauline Hanson

The Bankstown Greens extend our heartfelt solidarity to the people of Nepal during this incredibly difficult time. We are deeply saddened by the loss of life, injuries, and widespread impact being felt across communities. Our thoughts are with all those affected, including families here in Australia who are grieving and concerned for loved ones overseas.

We stand in solidarity with Nepali communities both in Nepal and across the diaspora, who are showing immense strength and resilience in the face of hardship. We acknowledge the pain and uncertainty so many are experiencing, and we send our support as people come together to care for one another, rebuild, and heal.🕊️❤️🇳🇵

The Bankstown Greens are deeply saddened by the passing of Dolly Parton, a global icon whose legacy extends far beyond music.

Dolly Parton was not only a legendary artist, but a powerful advocate for compassion, equality, and human dignity. She stood as a proud and consistent ally to the LGBTQIA+ community, using her platform to promote acceptance, inclusion, and love in a world that too often falls short of those values.

Her extraordinary commitment to literacy through the Imagination Library has changed millions of lives across the globe, providing free books to children and fostering a lifelong love of reading. This impact is felt not only internationally, but here in our own communities across Sydney, where access to books and early education can shape a child’s future.

Dolly also used her voice to speak out against poverty and inequality, advocating for a fairer world where opportunity is not determined by circumstance. Her belief in kindness, generosity, and lifting others up was not just something she spoke about, it was something she lived every day.

At her core, Dolly Parton represented something deeply needed in public life: an unwavering belief in peace, love, and humanity. Her warmth, humour, and authenticity resonated across generations and across political divides.

We honour her life by recognising the values she championed. Compassion, equality, education, and community. In a time where division can feel overwhelming, her message remains clear: lead with love.

Our thoughts are with her family, loved ones, and the millions around the world who are mourning her loss.

Forever Loved❤️
Vale Dolly Parton.❤️🕊️

David Shoebridge speaking to the community about the 2 pillars of AUKUS. The first where we risk simple burning hundreds or billions of dollars OR handing over the keys to our defence operation systems and data sharing with dubious global powers.

SBS isn’t some outdated broadcaster. It’s one of the only platforms in Australia built for a multicultural society.

Millions of people rely on it for news, representation, and critical information in languages they actually understand.

So when someone says it’s “not needed anymore,”
what they’re really saying is that those communities don’t matter.

That’s not just wrong. It’s dangerous.

Public media isn’t there for the majority.
It’s there for everyone.
