The Bankstown Greens are deeply saddened by the passing of Dolly Parton, a global icon whose legacy extends far beyond music.
Dolly Parton was not only a legendary artist, but a powerful advocate for compassion, equality, and human dignity. She stood as a proud and consistent ally to the LGBTQIA+ community, using her platform to promote acceptance, inclusion, and love in a world that too often falls short of those values.
Her extraordinary commitment to literacy through the Imagination Library has changed millions of lives across the globe, providing free books to children and fostering a lifelong love of reading. This impact is felt not only internationally, but here in our own communities across Sydney, where access to books and early education can shape a child’s future.
Dolly also used her voice to speak out against poverty and inequality, advocating for a fairer world where opportunity is not determined by circumstance. Her belief in kindness, generosity, and lifting others up was not just something she spoke about, it was something she lived every day.
At her core, Dolly Parton represented something deeply needed in public life: an unwavering belief in peace, love, and humanity. Her warmth, humour, and authenticity resonated across generations and across political divides.
We honour her life by recognising the values she championed. Compassion, equality, education, and community. In a time where division can feel overwhelming, her message remains clear: lead with love.
Our thoughts are with her family, loved ones, and the millions around the world who are mourning her loss.
Forever Loved❤️
Vale Dolly Parton.❤️🕊️
