🎯 Training for war means being ready to adapt under pressure - and that’s exactly what Australian Army Distribution Operator trainees from DISTOP IET Course 0066 did during Exercise THUNDERBOLT⚡️.

Trainees were put to the test as they located, secured and managed a cache while maintaining effective all-round defence against enemy role players.

The scenario tested decision-making, fieldcraft and trade competencies under pressure, delivering high quality, adaptive and future-aligned training for the demands of the modern battlefield.

🚛 Training for war starts with mastering the fundamentals.

Australian Army Distribution Operator trainees from DISTOP IET Course 0066 were put to the test during Exercise THUNDERBOLT last month.

Across the “crawl” phase, trainees conducted vehicle resupply operations using 40M trucks while maintaining effective all-round defence in a field environment. With 1 Section leading the way, the remainder of the course had the opportunity to learn by observing before conducting their own serials.

Stay tuned for more on EX THUNDERBOLT! ⚡️🇦🇺

🪖✨ EXERCISE FIRST LOOK 2026 ✨🪖

This week, ALTC welcomed participants from across Australia for EXERCISE FIRST LOOK, an annual program designed to provide Indigenous young men and women with exposure to Army training, trades and career opportunities as part of Defence's contribution to the Closing the Gap initiative.

Participants experienced Army life firsthand through daily routines, PT, dining at the mess, trade displays at the Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, a Weapons Training Simulation System demonstration, interactive first aid and Tactical Combat Casualty Care activities at the ADF School of Health, and capability displays from Army School of Ordnance. They also visited the Army Museum and Kapooka. 💪

Exercise First Look showcased the breadth of Army careers while providing a valuable insight into and the opportunities available to the next generation.

We hope to see these young people back at ALTC one day - in uniform!
