A beautiful day on the Lennox Headland ๐ŸŒฟโ˜€๏ธ

Last week, community members rolled up their sleeves for the 21st Lennox Head Community Tree Planting Day, helping continue more than two decades of restoration work on this iconic coastal landscape.

In perfect sunny conditions, volunteers came together to plant native species that will help restore littoral rainforest habitat and support local biodiversity for generations to come.

A special focus of the planting was the critically endangered Coastal Fontainea (Fontainea oraria) โ€” a rare native species now growing on Lennox Headland thanks to years of collaborative conservation efforts.

Since the first planting day in 2003, more than 2000 volunteers have helped plant over 19,000 trees across more than 8 hectares, transforming the headland through long-term community care and environmental action.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, along with our project partners and , local volunteer groups and businesses who helped make the day possible.

Together, weโ€™re helping restore an endangered ecological community and protecting this special place for future generations ๐ŸŒฑ

Heading to Love Lennox Festival this weekend? Check out how the festival is reducing single-use waste!

This year, 15 food and beverage vendors will be participating in the reusable container scheme. Enjoy your food or drink, return your reusable item to a hot pink collection point, and it'll be washed and reused throughout the day.

Councilโ€™s Resource Recovery Team and North East Waste will be onsite helping make this a waste-friendly event.

You can help too:
โ€ข Pack your picnic blanket and reusables kit โ€“ bring water bottle, bag, cutlery and food containers to fill with delicious food from the vendors if you want to take some home.
โ€ข Please don't take the cups and containers as souvenirs - reuse only works if we keep the items in circulation.
