QUICK QUIZ: CAN YOUR BUSINESS DO THIS?

Got a customer’s email from a purchase - can you market to them?

Someone tags you in a great photo - can you use it?

Got thousands of customer emails - can you upload them to Meta?

A customer sends a DM - what can you do with it?

Someone posts something questionable on your page - is that your problem?

And… what on earth is a tracking pixel?

Cookies, pixels and tracking tools can help you understand what customers do online : but do you know what you’re collecting, where it goes and how you can use it?

For example:

A customer visits your website, looks at a product and leaves. Later, they see an ad for that product. That’s retargeting.

You upload a customer email list to Meta to find similar people. That’s a custom or lookalike audience.

A pixel records activity on your website so you can measure whether your advertising is working.

Useful? Absolutely. But consent, privacy expectations and platform rules still matter.

At Privacy & Pancakes: Mind Your Own Data, we’ll unpack cookies, pixels, tracking, retargeting and Meta audiences in plain English : with practical examples for local businesses and no legal waffle.

🥞 Pancakes included.
☕ Coffee included.

You have a customer’s email address. Can you add them to your marketing list? 👀

Before using customer data for email marketing, ask:

• Did they agree to receive marketing?
• What exactly did they agree to?
• Can they easily opt out?

These practical questions can help your business take a clearer, more confident approach to email databases and consent : without the jargon or legal waffle.

Join us for Privacy & Pancakes: Mind Your Own Business, a practical breakfast for business owners and operators exploring customer data, privacy and social media.

You've got their email address.

Can you market to them?

Not necessarily. An email in your customer database is not the same as permission to send marketing. Consent, how you collect and use data, existing customer relationships and unsubscribe options all matter.

At Privacy & Pancakes: Mind Your Own Business, we'll explore the essentials in plain English, including:

• Email databases and consent
• Cookies, pixels and tracking
• Social media audiences and Meta
• Photos, reviews and online liability
• AI and customer data

Two experts. Two sides of the data story. Pancakes and coffee included. Legal waffle not included.
