🌱👩‍🌾 How good is this from our local Wendouree students?

Students from Wendouree Primary School have been getting their hands dirty, helping bring new life to Shaw Avenue Reserve through a series of recent planting days.

Working alongside the City of Ballarat’s Natural Resource Management team, students have played a key role not only in planting but also in shaping the future of the reserve. Their ideas helped inform the design, including new pathway connections that create a safer route through the park.

This partnership, now in its second year, is helping transform the upgraded reserve into a greener, more vibrant space for the whole community while giving young people the chance to see the real impact of their work.

Projects like this show how collaboration and local knowledge can help create safer, more accessible parks and inspire the next generation to care for their environment.

🌿 Schools interested in getting involved in similar projects can contact the City of Ballarat’s Natural Resource Management team on 5320 5500.

🎨💡 Want to feel more confident applying for creative grants?

Be part of a powerful community project with UNWOMAN (the protest) coming to Her Majesty’s Theatre this August. Share your story, connect with others, or simply come along to experience this moving live work. 🎭🧡

We want to hear your story.
This August, UNWOMAN (the protest) comes to Her Majesty’s Theatre, a powerful live work shaped by real stories from our community.

We’re inviting people to share their experiences of fertility, infertility, pregnancy, and the choice to have (or not have) children, conversations that are deeply personal, and too often unspoken.

Not sure where to start? Join a relaxed, no-pressure info session on 24 June to learn more. From there, you can take part in workshops and, if you choose, see your story become part of a live performance and artwork.

No performance experience needed, just curiosity, honesty, and a willingness to connect.
If being on stage isn’t for you, you’re still warmly invited to be part of the audience for this FREE performance.

♻️ that you can now recycle your old tech while visiting the library? 📚

New e-waste drop-off hubs are available at Ballarat Central, Wendouree and Sebastopol libraries, making it easier to safely dispose of everyday electronic items.

Bring along things like:
🔋 Batteries
📱 Old phones and vapes
🔌 Household cables
💻 Small devices like keyboards and tablets

It’s a simple way to keep harmful waste out of landfill and give old tech a better ending.

These hubs are proudly funded by the Victorian Government.

⚡⚒️ : Thor 🐾

Meet Thor, a fun-loving, high-energy dog who definitely lives up to his name, bringing plenty of “thunder” to playtime and adventures.

He’s social with other dogs and full of enthusiasm, though he can get a little carried away and will benefit from ongoing training and lead work to help him channel that energy.

Thor will thrive in an active home with experience handling large, strong dogs, as well as a secure yard to keep his explorer instincts in check. If you’re after a loyal, adventurous companion who’s always ready to make a big entrance, Thor’s ready to answer the call.

🧡🌏 Ballarat launches Intercultural Plan consultation as Refugee Week begins!

This week is Refugee Week and the City of Ballarat marked the occasion with a flag raising at the Intercultural Gardens, recognising the diversity that continues to shape our city.

Ballarat is proud to be a place that offers safety and opportunity, and to refugees who have chosen to make Ballarat home, we hope you feel a deep sense of belonging.

At the same time, community consultation has opened for the Intercultural Plan 2027-2031, inviting residents to help shape how we continue to support inclusion, connection and participation across the city.
Building on initiatives like Harmony Fest, the Intercultural Ambassador Program and spaces like the Intercultural Gardens, the next plan will guide how Ballarat continues to grow as a welcoming and inclusive community.

🗓️ Consultation is open until Sunday 26 July

Community workshops will be held at Ballarat Town Hall on 30 June and 1 July.
