25 years ago today, the world saw its deadliest terrorist attack to date.
2,977 dead. Of these, 413 first responders died, including 343 firefighters (NYFD).
Thousands more continue to suffer from related injuries/illnesses or have died as a result.

BlazeAid's All Fired Up! Grants 2026 are now open, offering eligible farmers and regional community members support to strengthen their fire protection capabilities through equipment upgrades and fire suppression resources.

Whether it's improving your existing Private Fire Fighting Unit or adding equipment to help detect and respond to fires early, these grants could make a real difference when every second counts.

Are you a farmer looking to improve your bushfire preparedness? BlazeAid's All Fired Up! Grants will open on 1 September 2026, providing funding support for Private Fire Fighting Unit (PFFU) upgrades, including pumps, water tanks, hoses, radios, PPE and more.
We're also expanding the program to support regional community members with vehicle-mounted water fire extinguishers to help detect and safely respond to roadside fires.

⏳ Just Two Weeks Until Climb Day! ⏳

In two weeks' time, members of the Ballarat Fire Brigade will join firefighters and emergency service personnel from across the country for the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb.

The challenge? Climbing 28 floors while wearing full firefighting gear weighing around 25kg.

But this event is about much more than reaching the top. It is about standing together to support those impacted by cancer, depression and su***de, and helping fund programs that provide real support when it is needed most.

Our members have been training hard and working tirelessly to raise funds for these important causes, and we couldn't be prouder of their commitment.

🚒 Working Together for Better Rescue Operations 🚒

Recently, members of the Ballarat Fire Brigade Rescue team visited Wendouree Fire Brigade - CFA to showcase our Rescue Appliance and discuss how their crews can safely and effectively support rescue operations.

The session provided a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, explore rescue capabilities, and strengthen the teamwork that is so important when brigades come together to manage complex incidents.

This collaboration is in preparation for an upcoming joint scenario between Ballarat Fire Brigade and Wendouree Fire Brigade - CFA, along with some of other our other emergency service partners. Exercises like these provide an invaluable opportunity to enhance interoperability, build relationships, and ensure all personnel can work together safely and effectively when responding to real-world emergencies.

A big thank you to the members of Wendouree Fire Brigade - CFA for hosting us and engaging in some great discussions. We're looking forward to continuing this partnership and putting our shared learning into practice during the scenario.

And, of course, a huge thanks to our Rescue members who gave up their time to support this session. Their commitment to sharing knowledge and building strong working relationships across brigades helps make all of us better prepared.
