The Fire Danger Rating for today, Tuesday 17 February, is EXTREME in Central District. A TOTAL FIRE BAN is also in force.

In addition to high temperatures, there's a chance of thunderstorms later on today coupled with damaging winds. Any fires that start today will be difficult to control.

We were called to attend this grassfire in Mt Helen at approximately 3.15pm, which is thankfully now fully under control.
