Over the past 3 months, investigators from the Moorabool CIU commenced an investigation in relation to a series of burglary and thefts, committed in the multiple locations across the Ballarat and Moorabool police service areas during this time.

In the early hours of Thursday the 4th of June, Detectives from the Moorabool CIU executed a search warrant at address in Napier Street, Creswick.

Detectives located and seized multiple clothing items, which they will allege were worn during the offending.

Detectives arrested a resident at the address, a 49-year-old male and he was transported to the Bacchus Marsh police station for interview.

The male was subsequently charged with the following offences and will appear at the Bacchus Marsh Magistrates Court in October.

Burglary x 6
Theft x 5
Attempted Burglary

This is another example of the dedication our members have to investigate, identify and locate high volume crime offenders and hold them to account.

On the morning of Wednesday the 3rd of June, members from the Ballarat police station and Ballarat CIU attended a residential address in Otway Street South to execute an evidence search warrant.

Two stolen vehicles were located at the address, a 2021 Skoda Scala hatchback and a 2017 Hyundai Veloster hatchback.

Police also located several items that they will allege had been reported stolen to Victoria Police.

A 34-year-old male resident was arrested at the address before being transported to the Ballarat West police station for interview.

The male was subsequently charged with:

▪Theft of Motor Vehicle x 2
▪Handle Stolen Goods x 7

This incident is another example of the dedication our members have to investigate, identify and locate high volume crime offenders and hold them to account.

On Tuesday, members from the Divisional Crime Investigation Team arrested a 17-year-old male in connection to the theft of a luxury, $165,000 Land Rover SUV.

Police were notified of the theft at about 11am, when an allegedly stolen Toyota Kluger attended a business carpark in Anchor Drive Wendouree.

One male was seen exiting the Toyota before approaching a 2025 Land Rover SUV, which was subsequently stolen after the keys to the vehicle were left inside the unlocked car.

At about 12pm, investigators observed the vehicle driving in the Golden Point area before the male exited the car and attended inside a residential premises.

A 17-year-old male was arrested at the scene and transported to the Ballarat West police station for interview, before he was charged with offences, including:

Theft of a motor vehicle x 2
Theft from motor vehicle
Going equipped to steal
Possess controlled weapon
Handle stolen goods
Commit indictable offence whilst on bail x 5

Due to the male being an unacceptable risk of reoffending, an application to remand the male was sought, and he was subsequently remanded by a Magistrate to reappear at a later date.

On Tuesday the 2nd of June, Detectives from the Ballarat CIU executed two search warrants in Sebastopol and Delacombe in relation to a series of high-volume offending, allegedly committed across the Ballarat area during late April and May.

Investigators located and seized an amount of allegedly stolen items and arrested a 43-year-old male at one of the residences.

The male was transported to the Ballarat West police station where he was interviewed in relation to several thefts, petrol thefts, and burglaries - alleged to have occured in Mt Helen where the victim's chainsaw was reported stolen and a subsequent burglary in Mt Clear where almost $4000 worth of power tools were reported stolen.

The male was charged with two counts of burglary and six counts of theft, with further charges expected to be laid.

The male was bailed with conditions to appear at the Ballarat Magistrates Court in August.

As part of our commitment to community safety, members from the Public Order Response Team assisted our local police with patrols in priority policing locations recently.

You may have noticed an increase in police presence or observed our PORT members driving in their distinct black police vans and SUV's.

At about 10.40 pm on Tuesday night, Detectives from the Ballarat CIU intercepted a black BMW in Humffray Street North, Ballarat East.

The driver, a 37-year-old male from Brown Hill was found to be the holder of a disqualified driver's licence.

A subsequent search is alleged to have uncovered a small quantity of methylamphetamine on his person, and knuckle dusters, handcuffs, and a folding knife located inside the car.

His passenger, a 20-year-old female from Ballarat, was also searched with investigators locating a quantity of oxycodone tablets without a prescription.

The male was charged with the following offences:

▪Possess Methylamphetamine
▪Drive Whilst Disqualified
▪Possess prohibited weapon
▪Possess controlled weapon x 2
▪Commit Indictable offence whilst on Bail

The female was charged with:

▪Possess Drug of Dependence

Both parties will face the Ballarat Magistrates Court at a later date.

On Wednesday the 20th of May, detectives from the Ballarat Divisional Response Unit executed a Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Act search warrant at a premises in Rodier Street, Ballarat East.

The male resident was home at the time and as a result of the search, investigators will allege they located and seized the following items:

▪80 Cannabis Plants

▪2 kg of dried Cannabis

▪ A large amount of Vapes

▪ A quantity of illegal ci******es

A 30-year-old male was arrested and later transported to the Ballarat West police station for interview and was subsequently charged with the following offences:

▪Cultivate Cannabis

▪Traffick Cannabis

▪Possess Cannabis

▪Possess Va**ng Goods

▪Possess Illicit To***co

The male was released on strict bail to appear at the Ballarat Magistrates Court in July 2026.
