Penny – 3yo, female – Australian Cattle Dog x – NSW
When Penny first came to us, we immediately noticed how timid she was. She would run and hide in the bushes and stay there all day. She would hide from the other dogs and watch them playing from a distance, it was heartbreaking to witness. She would take some coaxing with food to come out for pats.
Penny has now blossomed into such a happy girl! She is always the first to run up and greet us in the morning.
She absolutely LOVES swimming. She is such a water rat. She loves to roll in long grass and she is very food motivated. She knows her name well and has a good recall.
Penny absolutely loves coming inside and would love to sleep inside at her future house. She hasn’t chewed anything, she has no destructive tendencies. She never barks at night or during the day.
Penny walks very well on a leash. She loves car rides (we have a ute with a dog box, she easily jumps into the dog box).
AWDRI paid for Penny to have surgery on her eye. She suffered from Cherry eye, this has now been completely fixed.
Penny seems to have something going on with the right side of her jaw, she isn’t in any pain, but it does cause her to drool after exercise and snuffle when breathing. It doesn’t affect her ability to eat, she loves her dinner!
Penny was very protective of her food when she first arrived, but she now eats from the same bowl as our other dogs without any trouble.
We believe Penny was treated very badly in the past, she has the scars to prove it. But we have loved seeing her come out of her shell and trust us to look after her.
Penny would be best suited to a household with small dogs, if any. She has made friends with our male rescue Kelpie but she does not enjoy the company of our resident female Cattle dog.
Vaccinated, Desexed, Flea/Tick treated, and wormed.
