I managed to get through my first council meeting unscathed and I have a photo to prove it! Looking forward to many more meetings, briefings and everything in between with this group of dedicated locals.

🎉 Introducing our Council, as elected by you! 🎉

Last night a Special Council Meeting took place for the official swearing-in of our newly elected Councillors, following the outcomes of the Local Government Elections on 18 October 2025.

The roles of Shire President and Deputy Shire President were also confirmed during this meeting - we are pleased to share that Cr Vivienne MacCarthy was not only re-elected by the community to continue serving on Council, but has also been elected unopposed as Shire President, resuming the role from her previous term. Cr Alex Purich, one of our newest members of Council, was also elected unopposed as Deputy Shire President.

Congratulations to all of our new Elected Members, and thank you once again to all who participated in the Elections, whether by nominating or voting.

I'm thrilled to have been elected to the Shire of Donnybrook Balingup council for the next 4 years. Thank you to everyone who supported me and took the time to vote.

It's been a great experience campaigning alongside 5 other candidates who are each committed to serving their community. I want to acknowledge and thank them for bravely stepping forward.

I'll keep this page open to share updates and hear from you.
I welcome respectful discussion and will be most receptive to those who stay positive and focus on the future, so that we can make our community even better than it is today.

I HAVE SOME MASSIVE NEWS!

I'm thrilled to announce .... that last nights 'Meet the Candidates' event at Donnybrook Country Club was the third and final one before the count on 18th October.

As a reluctant public speaker I got muddled, paused too long, and forgot to talk about some of the dot-points in my notes ... but regardless of that, I'm proud I had a go. It certainly helped that all ~100 attendees across the 3 separate events were respectful, encouraging and engaging throughout.

I very much enjoyed getting to know some new people that I'd likely not have crossed paths with otherwise, and I hope to represent you well should I be elected.

Thank you to Yabberup Hall (Community Association) and the Donnybrook Balingup Chamber of Commerce for their organising and hosting efforts.

If you've left voting to the last minute (like me 😂) there's still time. Drop your completed envelope to the Shire of Donnybrook Balingup offices during business hours.

Thank you for your support.

Thanks to the Yabberup Community Association and the Promote Preston sub-committee for the invite to speak at Yabberup Hall last night.

I really appreciated the warm welcome and the chance to hear the local stories that shape this part of our Shire. It was eye-opening to learn that the population along the Donnybrook–Boyup Brook Road is larger than both the Kirup and Balingup townsites combined.

What stood out most was the sense of pride and unity among residents of Yabberup, Lowden, Mumballup, and Noggerup. The shared commitment to protecting the region’s agricultural way of life from the pressures of mining and extractive industries is clear and deeply valued. I fully support this priority.

There’s a strong community spirit in this district and plenty to look forward to. I’d be proud to help that continue and grow if given the opportunity to serve on council.

Nothing beats a kid-free walk through the Balingup Golden Valley Tree Park followed by a sit down coffee. Pepper practised her guard dog pose, and met plenty of new people and dog friends. We do this trip multiple times per year, but this was the first time without yelling, bickering or someone falling into a puddle. Talk about serenity ....

Great to see the Balingup town centre buzzing on a Sunday with a constant flow of locals and tourists stopping in to local businesses.

What more should a council candidate like myself know about the priorities facing the Balingup community? If you're free on Tuesday evening, please come along the Donnybrook Balingup Chamber of Commerce 'Meet the Candidates' to tell me about it.

Another enjoyable catch-up with Pauric Keown - Reggie - 2025 Candidate for Shire of Donnybrook Balingup for chat and a 10/10 coffee at Ruby's this morning.

We both agreed how great it's been meeting new people within our area and hearing directly about some of the topics that they're passionate about. Drainage, signage, toilets, roads, rates ... but beneath all of that, every single person was full of pride and love for where they live.

I hope to meet a few more local people at the 'Meet the Candidate' sessions on 7th and 8th October. Details on the Donnybrook Balingup Chamber of Commerce facebook.

Hello Donnybrook-Balingup!

I'm excited to announce my nomination to council for 2025.

My wife Rhi and three young kids (Theo, Whit and Sage) are proud to call the town of Donnybrook home.

I’ve been privileged to volunteer across our community as a coach, referee, and committee member in junior sport. Through this, I’ve seen how much families, volunteers, and small businesses contribute to giving our kids opportunities and building a strong, connected Shire.

These experiences are a major reason for my nomination. I want to be a strong, supportive voice for these groups when council makes decisions that affect them.

If elected, I will:
✅ listen to and advocate for local volunteers, families and community groups
✅ act with integrity and transparency
✅ fight against reductions to essential services (like reduced tip passes)
✅ ensure our rates are spent wisely and responsibly
✅ represent local concerns or needs to State Government where needed
✅ promote respectful, fact-based community conversations

I would appreciate your support to take this vision forward and make Donnybrook-Balingup even stronger in the future.

📬Please vote #1 HALL when you receive your postal ballots from the 12th of September.
